The North American organization, Cloud9, disbanded the Dota 2 team after The International 2017. They then attended TI with Jacky’s NP roster “EternaLEnVy” – the boys signed a contract two months before the tournament.
Right after TI7 – the tournament where the team finished 4th – Cloud9 Dota 2 dissolved but EE continued its journey. Cloud9, on the other hand, has not signed a Dota 2 team since then.
In the last January 28, 2020 Twitter post, the organization used the familiar Chat Wheel sound in Dota 2 without further comment.
With the ESL One Los Angeles Major qualifiers just around the corner, it’s the right time for Cloud9 to return to the Dota arena. The tournament will take place March 15-22, in Cloud9’s hometown. This is an opportunity for the most successful North American brand to create buzz. They also have some pretty good picks, and we’ll have to wait and see if Syed “SumaiL” Hassan will continue his career with Cloud9 or OG.
In addition to SunmaiL, we also have EternaLEnVy, who is still looking for sponsorship for his Fighting PandaS team. EE teamed up at the end of August 2019 and attended the first Major of the season with the second Minor. He is still looking for organizations to sponsor his squad and this could be his third time playing under Cloud9.
