February is an extremely attractive month for CSGO fans around the world when the 14th Major event – IEM Katowice Major 2019 is launched. Astralis once again affirmed its No. 1 position. As for the other LAN tournaments, we have the GG.BET Ice Challenge taking place in London in early February.

Astralis is the third team to win consecutive Majors

In Katowice, history was made by Astralis, becoming the third team in the world to win consecutive Majors, as well as the second team to achieve a record of winning three Majors. As for the GG.Bet Ice Challenge, North got his first win under the leadership of cadiaN, defeating Natus Vincere in the BO3 final of the $50,000 tournament.

Scoring mechanism

Here are tTo summarize the factors that affect the scores of the teams on the leaderboard each month:

The leaderboard has a base score of teams based on their performance in the previous year (achievement points). Then there is the “Form” score, which is calculated based on the individual achievements of the Players in the team and the results of online tournaments in the last 2 months. Finally, the LANs point, this point is calculated based on the performance in offline tournaments within the last 3 months.

Also, if a team wants to keep their base score before the new month’s score is calculated, their lineup must hold at least 3 Players from the previous month. And as mentioned above, the results of the online competition only slightly affect the scores in the “Form” section and it is mainly counted for the purpose of ranking some new teams on the rankings (this is possible. Understandably, because LANs scores affect a lot, teams that don’t have a place to compete offline but want to go up the rankings have to work hard at online tournaments).

Charts

Here is the standings of the teams for the month February 2019the “+/-” signs represent the promotion and relegation of the teams, and the difference is when compared to the January 2019 rankings, not the weekly team rankings.

Due to the Major’s few surprises, the rankings changed quite a bit, helping to bring the outstanding teams to the top 10, and the top teams that did not perform well to be relegated. Here are some highlights of the February chart changes:

ENCE and Renegades Rise

Both ENCE and Renegades had an IEM Katowice Major that exceeded the expectations of pundits and fans alike.

Renegades were the first Australian team in CSGO history to qualify for the Major playoffs, beating the New Challenger round with an impressive 3-0 record, then 3-1 at New Legend. After reaching the playoffs, the Australian boys were defeated by MIBR, but team morale remained high thanks to winning the Legend title to be present at the StarLadder Berlin Major. With his recent performance, Renegades jumped from 13th to 7th.

ENCE entered the top 5 for the first time in its history

ENCE did more than that, not only coming back from 0-2 in the New Legends round, then making it to the playoffs, defeating Liquid and Natus Vincere, the 2nd and 3rd teams in the world to reach the finals. This is considered a miracle performance of the team, helping the worthy ENCE jump from 12th place to 4th place.

Admiring Astralis

The ranking of the top 3 teams remained unchanged, as Astralis continued to successfully defend its No. 1 position.

Astralis still retains the excellence of a united collective. In Katowice, the team has shown CSGO history as one of the most powerful. With three Major titles, including two consecutive Major championships, Denmark has entered CSGO history, bringing the total difference to 450 points compared to the second place team.

When it comes to Liquid, some might argue that the team underperformed at the Major, compared to its original goal. People had high expectations for the North American team, especially after the iBUYPOWER Masters victory over Astralis, but unfortunately, Liquid lost in shock to ENCE in the quarterfinals. This defeat raised concerns about whether they would be able to take the throne of Astralis.

As for Na`Vi’s performance, it seems that reaching the semi-finals was beyond my expectations. Earlier, the team’s IGL Zeus told the GG.BET Ice Challenger that “we watch the Major just like another tournament”. With such a somewhat negative mindset going into the Major, finishing in the top 4 and successfully defending the 3rd place in the world is considered a success for Natus Vincere – especially after the team failed to win the title. at GG.BET Ice Challenge.

NRG dropped out of the top 10

North America’s next hope, NRG, leaves the top 10 after a lackluster performance at the Major. The team went from 6th to 11th, pushing NRG down to the 3rd highest ranked North American team in the region.

NRG’s target at the Major is promising, seen by many as heavyweight contenders to enter the New Champions. Contrary to this, the team soon fell off the horse and left after three rounds in New Legends. This is considered a shock for NRG when they passed the previous round with an unbeaten record of 3-0.

NRG dropped 7 places after lackluster performance and roster change

Despite losing, but NRG’s two BO1 series were very close, while the last match had 2 maps that lasted until overtime. In general, NRG still decided to refine the lineup. replacing FugLy with tarik – this is also the reason why the team lost quite a few points on the leaderboard. The North American team will no doubt want revenge at the StarLadder Season 7 finals, which take place in Shanghai, China.

mousesports dropped dramatically

mousesports’ European roster is now seen as falling with no signs of stopping. The lack of members of the main roster, combined with the failure to make it to the Major, means mouz has dropped from #9 to #15 – the lowest since December 2017.

mousesports is disbanding, hope to rebuild after Major

Only three members left: Robin “ropz” Kool, Tomáš “oskar” astny and Miikka “suNny” Kemppi, mousesports is definitely going through a tough time. Once one of the promising European squads that once finished 2nd in the first half of 2018, they are now hopeless after being knocked out of the Europe Minor.

Immediately after the Minor, the lmbt coach and two key players, chrisJ and STYKO, were put on the bench, leaving the team down to three main members. Until now, the German organization has not found a suitable replacement for the vacancies left. A rather bleak future for the team.

Vitality on the way up

The French team excelled at the New Challengers of the Major, going 3-1, and were only one map away from the playoffs, but lost to Renegades and NiP. With such form, Vitality promoted from 14 to 10.

The NBK- army has climbed 11 places since the beginning of the year, a signal that the team is ready for the highest arena. Vitality will now focus on the ECS Season 7 Pinnacle Cup to secure a spot in the tournaments in the previous season before appearing at Charleroi Esports in the next LAN tournament this April.
