After the initial beta testing period, Valve officially pushed Trusted mode into the main game in CSGO through the latest update.

Valve added a ‘Trusted Launch’ option to the game menu at the end of June to prevent hacking in CSGO. This mode, when enabled, will limit third-party applications and software that interact with CSGO games unless they have been digitally signed by an Authenticode signature.

Trusted mode

After the beta, Trusted Launch is enabled by default for all players. Users running the game with incompatible files will receive a warning about which file is causing the error.

If you experience problems in the new update, Valve also temporarily adds an old version of the game, for those who want to use third-party software that is not digitally registered to interact with the game. You can add the launch option ‘-untrusted mode’ to run, but in return the player’s trust points will decrease and cannot join the VAC enabled server.

The full patch note of this CSGO update is as follows:

[Trusted Mode]

  • Players now default to enabling CS:GO in Trusted mode:
    • In this mode, third-party software will be blocked from interacting with CS: GO
    • To be able to use third-party software to interact with CS:GO, you can start the game by adding the launch option -untrusted command. Note, your Trust score may be negatively affected.
    • Backwards compatibility version “1.37.5.9” was created temporarily for players who are having trouble running the game in the latest update.
  • If you are a third-party developer, all DLLs that interact with CS:GO must be digitally registered.
    • If your customers want to use third-party software without a digital subscription, they can run the game using the launch option -insecure. Note, they cannot join the VAC server using this option.
