CSGO: MIBR officially put Coldzera on the bench

MIBR officially confirms Marcelo ‘coldzera’ David has been substituted.

The team’s coach, Wilton ‘zews’ Prado, will compete at BLAST Pro Series Los Angeles and IEM Chicago, while the team is still considering a roster for the StarLadder Major.

This news comes after coldzera asked to find a new challenge because MIBR was eliminated from ESL One Cologne, only finishing 13-16 at the tournament. The Brazil international is fed up with the team’s poor results and wants a new challenge so he can win titles again and return to his position of the best player in the world. obtained in 2016 and 2017.

In the announcement, zews confirmed coldzera’s offer to play in the final two tournaments of the season as well as the StarLadder Major. His offer was rejected by the team because the members wanted to start a new life without him.

“We realized we needed to focus on building for the future now, and we should start as soon as possible,” Zews said.

coldzera has been with MIBR since June 2018, when he and the rest of the SK team were acquired by Immortals, which acquired the legendary brand from founder Paulo Velloso. After leaving SK, the team won just one LAN, the ZOTAC Cup Masters and reached the finals of two major tournaments, BLAST Pro Series Istanbul and ECS Season 6 Finals, losing to Astralis in both encounters.

Tensions within MIBR continued for some time as they were unable to achieve any results despite using an all-Brazilian formation. This year, MIBR did not reach any LAN finals but only entered one semi-final, IEM Sydney. The presence of Lucas “LUCAS1” Teles to replace João “felps” Vasconcellos gave MIBR fans hope, but coldzera decided to leave the squad after only one event playing with the player.

This news means that MIBR only has three official members in the squad because LUCAS1 is a player on loan from Luminosity. The team had long been interested in Yuri “yuurih” Santos and Kaike “KSCERATO” Cerato but were unable to attract the two young talents of FURIA who had recently renewed their five-year contracts with FURIA.

It is not yet clear who MIBR will use as the 5th player at the StarLadder Major, the tournament where MIBR will start from the Legends round, which kicks off August 28. According to tournament rules, the team can change a member when the time comes. The deadline for closing the list has ended, but only in emergencies.

Losing the team’s key star is a huge loss, but zews is confident the future will be brighter: “We’ve found a breath of fresh air for the team many times before and this time was no different.”
