Capcom May Remake the First Resident Evil One Again

Capcom May Remake the First Resident Evil One Again

Six years after the first Resident Evil hit shelves, Capcom released a complete remake of the game on the Nintendo GameCube and is one of the highest-rated horror games to date. Some thought Capcom might have settled down with the first Residnet Evil, but according to Resident Evil 2 director Kazunori Kadoi, the publisher may be preparing to remake it again in the future.

“It’s been quite a while for the remake to need a remake. Personally, I think this would be a fun thing to do,” Kadoi said in an interview with Game Informer. Kadoi did not elaborate further on the remake of the original Resident Evil, but we will have two possible scenarios.

Scenario one is when the Resident Evil remake follows the Resident Evil 2 remake with a rear view camera instead of a dead angle camera, and retells the plot with significantly improved graphics. Capcom could also take inspiration from Resident Evil 7, and launch the first version of Resident Evil to be played entirely in first-person perspective.

Of course, the remake of the Resident Evil remake is just a hypothesis at the time of writing. Currently, Capcom is focusing on finishing development of the Resident Evil 2 remake before they move on to another project in earnest. It’s hard to say what that project will be for now, but it’s rumored that Capcom could either move into a Resident Evil 3: Remake, or invest it all in Resident Evil 8.

Capcom’s willingness to remake games is not surprising, as the publisher previously announced that remakes and remasters will be the focus of their strategy from now on. Most recently, Capcom confirmed that it will create more remakes in the future, so a remake of a certain game is entirely possible.

Resident Evil remake is now available on GameCube, PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Wii
