Following the 3-2 win over Liquid in the ESG Tour Mykonos final, HLTV spoke to the tournament’s MVP, Tomáš “oskar” Šťastný.
Mousesports claimed their first title with their new roster at the ESG Tour Mykonos, beating Liquid 3-2, improving their CT side on the maps they won.
HLTV spoke to MVP and champion of the tournament, Tomáš “oskar” Šťastný. The interview talks about the maps in the final and mousesports goals for the future after winning again in Greece recently:
Mousesports’ CT side is pretty weak in the tournament, but in the maps where the team won in the finals, CT looked pretty good, what changes did the team make for the finals?
We didn’t have much time to practice before, only about 7 days. Therefore, we only rehearsed the T-side strategy, so we didn’t have much time to work on the CT side. In this tournament, after losing to SK, we tried to find some more tricks and they worked on several maps. Then we improve them throughout the tournament.
At Mirage, it looked like the team was able to ‘flip’ the T side, but what happened at the end?
We believe we can come back when we’re pretty much behind, we always believe that miracles can happen and we can win. When we lost eco at the connector, when some of our team smoked in a 2v4 situation, I knew it was going to be difficult. And that phase took away the Mirage map, if that didn’t happen, I think we would have won.
Speaking of his own form, the first four maps he performed were underwhelming compared to the rest of the tournament, but in the last map he performed much better…
I’m not feeling well… I know my form is high, maybe it’s because I’m so hungry that it backfires. Then, before the Nuke map, I went to my own room and washed my face and recovered. I told myself ‘now or never again, if I’m good, I have to ‘show’ now,’ and I did.
At Nuke, chrisJ is the main AWP on CT side, is this your idea, you don’t feel confident with your AWP in this map?
I was never a major AWP in 1.6, so I wanted to enjoy playing a map with an M4 and AK-47. So we agreed and chrisJ preferred to hold the AWP. I’m happy when the team plays Nuke, because sometimes I get bored in the AWP position. I’m very happy to use M4 on the CT side, play at any time and in my own way, so I feel very comfortable, free.
Now that the team has a championship, what are the next goals that the team aims for at the end of 2017?
Of course we want to move up the ranks, get to the top 5, maybe the top 3, but it’s going to be very difficult. Especially at ELEAGUE, our goal is to get to the playoffs. And then, we’ll consider what to do, if we win a place in the tournament. We need to practice because mousesports is still in its infancy, it’s still too early to tell. Of course, the whole team is happy to win, but it shouldn’t be too happy.
