Auto Chess Mobile: Deep dive into the mobile version of Dota Auto Chess

While Dota Auto Chess is slowly transitioning to Auto Chess Mobile, we can see the gameplay of the original remains the same. However, due to copyright issues, all things related to Dota 2 must be removed. With the ‘cute’ characters in the game, can Auto Chess become the big game of the mobile world? The main interface of the game is quite simple. Your profile picture can be seen in the upper left corner, and things like ‘announcements’, ‘Wiki’, ‘Dialogs’ and ‘chat features’ are on the left. The game has a feedback button in the upper right corner for players to write feedback and report errors. The amount of candy – the in-game currency – is also displayed in the upper right corner of the screen next to the feedback button. Other features such as ‘Inventory’, ‘Leaderboard’ and ‘shop’ can be found on the right side of the screen.

• Rating System

Unlike Dota Auto Chess, when players receive their rank after 5 evaluation matches, in Auto Chess Mobile, everyone will start at ‘Pawn’ rank.

In Dota Auto Chess, the shop is simply an animal picker and a courier locker.

In the mobile version, you can get ‘Skin’ and ‘Avatar’ from the claw machine. Currently, the only skin available in the game is a character named ‘Piggy Girl’.

As for Avatar (avatar image), the game has 2 tiers: equivalent to the price of 2 candies and 5 candies.

In the inventory we can see the ‘chess board’ option. The article believes that the game will have more different chessboards in the future and you can own them from the claw machine.

Currently, the chessboard is called ‘Island’.

• System ‘Friends’

The ‘Friends’ system is not currently available but if we pay attention, we will see the ’email’ feature in the game.

Obviously, the game does not currently have the ability to observe other players.

Chess pieces and wiki item information

These pieces are based on the March 28 Dota Auto Chess release. The characters and symbols, as well as items, are easily recognizable with the Dota version.

Game Overview

The buying phase in the shop feels more compact than on Dota 2.

The game plays with a horizontal screen. On the left side you can see the health bars of the 8 players in the game. Similar to Dota Auto Chess, clicking on another player’s avatar will change to their chessboard. The area on the left is draggable to display species/class combos or DPS stats.

The order of placing pieces is similar to Dota Auto Chess. You can adjust the position of the troops in the reserve area during battle.

Also, if you have a pair on the board and the reserve area, their 3rd piece will light up when it spawns. Not to mention, the upgrade process is also simplified.

Item

The names of the items are still the same as the originals.

The only difference between the items is their icons, it’s not too difficult to get used to. However, many Dota Auto Chess players may not be comfortable switching to the game. Currently, the game does not have a courier to pick up items. When the item drops, click on it to have it automatically transfer to your inventory before you decide to equip them with the pieces.

Note, you cannot equip items during the battle phase

Also, items don’t upgrade themselves in the mobile version. You have to manually click on it.

Chessboard

Currently, we still have not found interactive objects (like the bushes in the game Hearthstone) on the chessboard of Auto Chess Mobile. However, the camera changes very slowly when you watch other players’ chessboards. When on another player’s board, in addition to their species/class combos, you can also see the DPS stats of each piece.

After viewing your opponent’s board, press ‘Back’ to return to your own board.

With ‘Bullet Chat’ turned off, you can check the match results of previous rounds to better understand the current situation. You can scroll up to check the results of previous matches.

Match time

The preparation time for each round remains 30 seconds. However, the 5-second preparation time was omitted. The battle time remains the same for 60 seconds. Therefore, the time of a match of Auto Chess Mobile and Dota Auto Chess is equivalent to about 30-40 minutes.

• New chess piece graphics as well as species and class logos are no longer the same as before. Those who switch from Dota Auto Chess to Auto Chess Mobile may need more time to adapt.
• The process of upgrading items and pieces becomes faster and easier.
• Lack of tutorials for new players.
• The attack effect is still awkward, and the magic effect is still unfinished.
• With less than 5 seconds of preparation time plus the fact that you can only upgrade items while preparing, players will easily panic in the face of ‘critical situations’. In addition, those who own a small screen may not enjoy the game well.
• As a mobile game, the duration of the game is quite long and can consume a lot of battery. This is not really a friendly game for everyone.
• Some features such as the ‘Friends’ system and the shop are still incomplete.
