Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment have announced that they will be hosting a $500,000 pre-season tournament for Apex Legends in September, ahead of Season 3’s launch.
The tournament will feature 80 of the best Apex Legends teams in the world. They will be in Krakow, Poland to play from September 13 to 15.
Teams will compete in a double-elimination draw for a chance to win a share of the $500,000 prize pool.
This is Respawn’s first major esports tournament for Apex Legends, following smaller tournaments like Twitch Prime.
How to participate in Apex Legends pre-season tournament
If you want to try your luck, the team can apply by sending an email to [email protected]in the mail write the Origin ID as well as the email address registered with the Origin account.
EA and Respawn will select the participating teams, but the selection process is currently unclear.
The event will be open to those who wish to travel to Krakow to watch the tournament live.
Todd Sitrin, EA’s Executive Director of Professional Competition, explains that they have “a vision of making players stars by creating compelling programming that attracts millions of gamers and viewers.”
“Today, we officially expand EA Competitive Gaming to Apex Legends, one of the hottest titles in history,” continued Sitrin, “The Apex Legends Preseason Invitational is an important step forward in our esports journey. I.”
The event is considered a premise for season 3 of Apex Legends – it is expected to have a scary theme due to falling in the Halloween season.
