Apex Legends adds a report feature in the game, hackers beware

The “Report a Player” feature has finally been added to Apex Legends for desktop users.

This new feature allows you to report players hacking and exploiting game bugs on PC. This report will be sent directly to Easy Anti-Cheat and can be done while following others or from the Banner Cards section of the Squad tab.

Respawn adds that preventing hacking from the start is always a top goal. The team is currently “doing a lot of things right now” in the fight against hacking.

Another reporting feature has also been added that when the Apex Legends game crashes, the device will display an error message for the player to send to the developer.

You can read more about this feature below:

  • Introduce better reporting when Apex crashes on PC without displaying error messages.
    • Respawn is keen to fix any crashes that occur on PCs. We also respect the privacy of our users. Therefore, if the PC fails, the game will write to “apex_crash.txt” in your “Documents” folder. This small file is full of text, so you can easily see that it contains no personal information. If it decides to share it with us, it will let us know if the crash occurred in Apex or is caused by a third party software. If it happens in Apex, the team can use this information to find and fix bugs. If you experience a crash, please attach this file when reporting.
      • We protect your personal information
      • You can easily see everything in that file; We don’t hide anything
      • You are in complete control of whether you show us the file or not.
    • Add Report a Player feature to prevent hacking on PC
      • Players can report hackers they meet in the game and send them directly to Easy Anti-Cheat. You can do this while watching after death or looking at your team’s Banner Cards in the Squad tab.
      • We are currently doing a lot of work to combat hacking and this continues to be our focus. We can’t share specifically what we’re working on, but we’ll try to stay current on what we can share.
      • By the time this section is completed, a total of 499,937 accounts have been banned for hacking.
      • Speed Hack: We’re currently anti-speed hack in Apex Legends, but it’s not working as expected due to a bug, and the team believes we’ve spotted it and will fix it in the next server update. Respawn will share an expected release date when it becomes clear.
