Apex Legends: A Guide to Countering Crypto’s EMP

The new character in Apex Legends, Crypto, has a very nasty ultimate EMP. But MVG pro player, Hongyun “Ras” Song, has found a way to counter it.

Respawn Entertainment launches a new Legend when Season 3 of the game starts on October 1. In addition to the new map and many buffs and nerfs, the new Crypto character also creates a lot of problems.

Although Legend has just been classified as a Scout, the character’s EMP can “damage armor, slow enemies, and destroy traps”, easily turning the tide of battle in an instant.

During the October 2 stream, Apex Legends player “Ras” was going up against Crypto and Pathfinder. After encountering Pathfinder, he defeats him before his Wraith reveals that Crpyto’s ultimate EMP is about to be activated.

The moment he saw the edge of the game screen jerking and the “EMP incoming” warning sound, he quickly opened the inventory and threw the Gold Body Armor out.

Ras avoids the massive damage that EMP Drones deal by simply removing the armor and wearing it again afterwards. While still being slowed by EMP, he quickly mitigates its effects.

After seeing that EMP had affected him, he quickly picked up his armor to see if it was full of health. This is an important point because it saves healing items, when the game only has the last four squads left.

Crypto is currently extremely popular in Apex Legends, when possessing a better spy with Drone than Bloodhound, although in return, the character cannot move.

Gamers will definitely find a lot of creative strategies when playing Crypto or piloting the character’s drone. So, knowing how to effectively counter this character will help you survive in Apex Legends Season 3.
