Admire the fighting game version of Overwatch

A fighting version of Blizzard’s first-person shooter, Overwatch, has been staged and posted. This version of Overwatch recreates the game in a fighting style and includes all of Overwatch’s heroes, along with 10 locations from the original game. The fighting game format is inspired by Tekken, Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter.

The gameplay video below is nearly 6 minutes long, including the two fights between Reinhardt and Zarya and Doomfit against Genji, as well as the character selection screen and the map. The video also includes a bonus round similar to Street Fighter: Doomfist smashing a motorcycle to score points. All character skills, costumes, and weapons are modeled after Overwatch’s archetype, and each character has its own special skill.

The developers at TGN are the creators of this game. It looked so professional and elaborate, that fans who commented on the video said they would be willing to buy it if the game was actually made. Of course, Overwatch Fighter isn’t the kind of game we’d expect Blizzard to develop any time soon. But Overwatch fans will surely be delighted if the possibility of this game development happens. Maybe Blizzard will consider developing a fighting game that includes other Blizzard characters in the future, as they did with Heroes of the Storm.

In the meantime, fans can enjoy the ongoing Lunar New Year event, which runs through March 5 in Overwatch.

Overwatch is available now on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
