To complete the roster, Natus Vincere brought in Denis “Seized” Kostin and Danylo “Zeus” Teslenko along with coach Mikhaylo “Kane” Blagin from Gambit, the organization has announced.
Danylo “Zeus” Teslenko’s somewhat unexpected return to Na`Vi after a year as IGL at Gambit, the team has reached new heights with the Ukrainian captain: winning two titles at the DreamHack Open and most recently the championship in the biggest arena, PGL Major Krarkow.
Zeus also brought back Na`Vi along with Mikhaylo “Kane” Blagin. Former coach Andrey “Andi” Prokhorov decided to leave the team despite being offered the position of analyst from Na`Vi, so that he could continue coaching another team.
According to Gambit’s announcement, due to his “inability to meet his requirements”, Kane’s contract with the organization was cancelled, leading to Zeus leaving the team.
Meanwhile, Denis “seized” Kostin, who left the squad alongside Ladislav “GuardiaN” Kovács “GuardiaN” at the start of the break, has returned to the starting lineup, completing the Natus Vincere roster for the upcoming season.
“Seven days ago, I had to say that Dania’s move to Na`Vi was impossible. However, things are always changing and life has created unimaginable opportunities. I am proud that the legend has returned to the club,” said Na`Vi CEO Yevhen Zolotarov during the press conference.
“I’m also happy for Kane, who just led Gambit to victory at the last Major, to join us. We believe that with the great partnership with Dania, the rich experience and innovative way of thinking in the game will strengthen the team.
It was heartbreaking to say goodbye to Andi. Andrey has been a part of the organization since 2014, and moved from website writer to team analyst; Come to think of it, he was Natus Vincere’s coach. I thank you for what you have done for us, and I wish you the best of luck!”
Zeus also explained what happened at Gambit after the Major ended in a Twitlonger post.
“Over the past six months, the team has had many disagreements and problems. But despite those difficulties, we achieved victory together. But at this point, they still decided to kick Coach Kane, even though I would go with him if kicked. Misha Kane is someone I’ve worked with and a long time friend with, who taught me and helped me get through being kicked out of Na`Vi last year, and who helped us win the Major. .
But the team thought otherwise, ignoring my experience of the situation and my efforts to save the squad. It’s strange to me, because in other sports things happen completely differently, coaches are celebrated for such achievements. The key to success in a game – not only from a good player, but also from the captain/coach. When the atmosphere and authority are disrupted, working with the team becomes extremely challenging.”
HLTV also had a private interview with Zeus where he could explain the situation and the reasons behind his passing.
Natus Vincere’s roster is currently:
Danylo “Zeus” Teslenko
Ioann “Edward” Sukhariev
Alexander “s1mple” Kostyliev
Egor “flamie” Vasilyev
Denis “seized” Kostin
Mikhaylo “Kane” Blagin (coach)
The team will be moving to Na`Vi’s gaming house on August 15 to prepare for ESL Pro League Season 6, which will begin on August 22, as well as upcoming offline events: DreamHack Masters Malmö (August 30 to September 3), ELEAGUE CS:GO Premier Group A (September 8-9), and ESL One New York (September 16-17 playoffs).
Gambit currently has four members without a coach, and news of a fifth member will be announced soon.
