Recently, Valve released CS20 Weapon Case and Sticker Capsule to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Counter-Strike. Cache is also back in the server but not in Competitive mode yet.
Just a day earlier, the CSGO Twitter account hinted at the legendary CS 1.6 knife. Then the next day, Valve released an update with the official name Cache and Release. It includes the new Cache map, reworked by the creators of FMPONE and Volcano. De_Cache is now playable in Casual, Deathmatch and Scrimmage servers.
However, the new Cache map will not return to the duty active competitive pool. Cache was removed from the active pool earlier in the year and replaced with Vertigo. Map Vertigo has also undergone many tweaks since launch but continues to be in the active pool. That means de_cache cannot be used in official tournaments yet.
Additionally, Cache isn’t the only thing returning to Counter-Strike, Valve also released new weapon crates and capsule stickers. They contain weapon skins and stickers to celebrate the 20th anniversary. Counter-Strike was first released in 1999.
Stickers range in rarity from High Grade to Remarkable, then the rarest is Exotic. This time, there are two stickers reminiscent of the moment of being stuck at a door in Counter-Strike history: the panic “CLOSED” phase from 1.6, and most recently, a chicken blocking the door in the map Inferno, leading to the mousesports player when it was Robin “ropz” Kool being killed.
The new CS20 weapon chest has more than 30 new weapon skins, including 17 different gun skins and 13 skins of the 1.6 knife, called Classic Knife.
The rarest gun skins are Commemoration gold skins for FAMAS and Wildfire skins for AWP.
This is the first crate in more than half a year. The most recent box is the Prisma Case, which was released on the March 13 update. That March update also changed the economics in CSGO when the bonus round loss was recalculated.
With still weeks to go before Counter-Strike is truly 20 years old, many fans are hoping Valve will bring more new content.
