As ESPN reports, they confirmed on Monday that former CSGO pro: Nicholas “nitr0” Cannela is “in the process of becoming a pro in VALORANT.”
It seems, many North American pro teams are looking to own nitr0, to include him in their VALORANT lineup.
Nitr0, became a CSGO legend, helped his Liquid team win some of the most precious titles, like winning DreamHack and ESL tier-S tournaments: reaching IEM Gand Slam 2019, becoming the world No. 1 team on leaderboard ranked HLTV last year when winning 6 consecutive major tournaments.
Team Liquid announced on August 1 that they will part ways with nitr0 after 5 years of being together:
Now, Team Liquid has announced the full VALORANT roster, but whether nitr0 will stick with the new roster remains a question mark.
While this is an important transition for a professional player from CSGO to VALORANT, nitr0 is not the first (nor the last) to make this decision.
Several other CSGO legends have also gone ahead: Spencer “Hiko” Martin joined 100 Thieves, Adil “ScreaM” Benrlitom announced his joining of Team Liquid this past Friday, Oscar “Mixwell” Cañellas signed with G2 Esports and Tyler “Skadoodle” Latham is now a VALORANT player for Team T1.
VALORANT’s pro arena is growing day by day and we’ll soon see the big leagues explode… but for now, nitr0 will need to find a new home first.
