The creator of Until Dawn introduces a series of horror games with the first part called The Man of Medan

Three years ago, Supermassive Games released Until Dawn, a horror game inspired by the movie “cabin in the woods”. Now, the team continues to approach their new games in a similar way, with a sequel coming next year.

The first game, titled, The Man of Medan, was announced at the opening ceremony of GamesCom in Cologne, Germany. The Man of Medan introduces a trailer for a group of four players on a treasure hunt in the far sea, and follows the formula Until Dawn: no character is safe. The game begins with The Dark Pictures anthology, with future sequels coming with distinct characters. We currently have no information about the Supermassive games planned to launch in this collection, after The Man of Medan.

The notable difference in Supermassive’s plans is that the game won’t be a console exclusive. Until Dawn released in August 2015 exclusively on Playstation 4, and the game was published by Sony. Further games will be released by Bandai Namco and The Man of Medan will launch on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. This is the first game in more than 5 years that Superpassive Games released on other platforms, except PlayStation. In recent years, they’ve released two spin-offs of Until Dawn for PlayStation VR, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood and The Inpatient, as well as Hidden Agenda: they’re both powered by Sony’s PlayLink feature.

It looks like the contract between Supermassive and Sony has ended, with their latest game The Inpatient launching earlier this year on PlayStation VR. Until Dawn has received positive reviews since the game launched in 2015 and has been nominated for many awards for creativity, horror, and storytelling.

The fact that Supermassive launches a new series of games on multiple platforms will help them reach more players than in the past, as all of the studio’s games have never appeared on Microsoft’s console before.

The Man of Medan will launch in 2019 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
