But other major changes include six new regions spanning two new continents, a new storyline about the conflict between the Human and Orc races, and Island Expeditions. The new adventures are being positively received by the community, showing that people are willing to invest their time in the huge world of WoW.
The success of the latest expansion is testament to Blizzard’s investment in World of Warcraft over the years. In October 2010, World of Warcraft’s number of subscribers peaked at around 12 million players. However, in the last few years, Blizzard has not released the number of payers, possibly because the number of players has begun to decline. With Battle for Azeroth being the most successful first-day sales expansion ever, it looks like Blizzard can still attract new players to the game.
