‘We are ready to win the championship’

FaZe clan won the semi-final against Natus Vincere convincingly and they await their final opponent in the final of ELEAGUE Major: Boston.

Ladislav “GuardiaN” Kovas played a key role in the team’s victory, as FaZe ended Na`Vi’s fate with Inferno (16-9) and Mirage (16-7). To win the match between the two European teams, GuardiaN successfully clutched 1v2 to see off his old team.

GuardiaN spoke to Dot Esports after this win:

He got a big clutch in the late game, performing a classic Fnatic fake smoke. What does it mean for you to beat your old team in style like that?

GuardanN: I want to talk a little more about the clutch in the last round. When I was in a 1v1 situation, I knew that after the peek, Zeus wouldn’t stick his head out. So I smoked and faked defuse. I know exactly what he’s going to do. That’s the experience I have since I was playing with Na`Vi. It means a lot. I knew I was in a 1v1 situation and knew I could do it. Beating them feels so satisfying. We are still friends. I still love the Na`Vi organization. I am still in contact with them. We talk a lot. It means a lot, but at the same time I feel sorry for Na`Vi, because they could also be in the final. But I think at the moment, FaZe is much stronger than them. I think Na`Vi needs to improve more. I will still be cheering for them, and hope they make it to the Major finals or the next big event. It was a special moment.

He lost a lot of anti-ecos, but the team also won a lot of force buys. Is reading Na`Vi’s amount challenging?

At CT Mirage, we know for sure what they’re doing, and we don’t let the enemy win a force buy. Party T, everyone made a mistake. We don’t mind Zeus, even though NiKo could have saved that rond. I think that phase was completely unlucky while watching Niko. I mean you can’t do anything with force buy. It’s as simple as this, if someone shoots such a classic with a pistol, there’s nothing you can do about it. You can understand that you have lost the force buy, but there is nothing more you can do. It’s nothing special.

At one point, karrigan was laughing at the Mirage. How was the atmosphere in the team, especially after the first half with the score 10-5?

Honestly it’s not the best. When we lost a few rounds, everyone lost themselves because everyone was panicking. The team is not calm. We shouted at each other and no one saw the information. We lost in two rounds: one was an eco round and the other was a gun round. Team forced timeout to calm down. I think it was Robban’s decision to timeout because everyone panicked. So it was the perfect decision. If not, they could have thrown the game or at least a map.

Whoever the opponent is in tomorrow’s final, how ready will FaZe be to prove to the world that the team is capable of becoming the new Major king?

I think we are ready to win the championship. I mean I’ve played in the final twice and lost both. Now we’ve been playing every day and many hours like that. And I think SK is not profitable anymore, so we can beat them this time. The team cannot underestimate the opponent, even if they are playing with felps. Cloud9 also played very well against SK. I think Cloud9 can make it to the finals. But from our perspective, I think everyone on the team is very confident to win the Major.
