Valve and Perfect World officially launch Chinese Steam

Game selling platform Steam Valve’s has officially had a Chinese version. Steam China launched with Perfect World, Valve’s official partner in this country.

Information about Valve and Perfect World has been known for quite some time. The first news about the Steam China comes out in June. At the moment, Simplified Chinese will be the language for 22% of users Steam in China.

Steam China will have some restrictions removed

Steam China also removed some of its currently blocked features Steam in China, like Steam Community, but it can raise concerns as well as political conflict. In June, Valve allowed any content to be sold on Steamas long as it’s not illegal or trolling.

However, this policy is not completely well received in China, due to their rather strict content management policy. According to the news released about Steam China by Tech Crunch, Perfect World will be the party that “controls the promotion, distribution and selection of game titles.” The Shanghai-based company will certainly do everything to comply with state regulations.

The Chinese market is being fiercely competitive, due to the largest number of players in the world. In September, Riot Games’ parent company Tencent launched its online game selling platform WeGame. Another Perfect World competitor, NetEase, is working closely with Activision-Blizzard and is distributing its games in China.

More details about the project Steam China has yet to be announced.
