Blizzard can now be said to be a mess.

In his latest statement, Mr. Geoff Keighley – the founder of The Game Awards, the world’s most prestigious game award, announced the “boycott” of Activision Blizzard. This is a move to protest the sexual harassment scandal that caused Activision Blizzard to wobble in 2021.

Geoff Keighley said a number of Activision Blizzard titles are still shortlisted, but this year’s event will not invite any Activision Blizzard representatives to attend. In addition, The Game Awards 2021 will not introduce or promote any new Activision Blizzard projects. This means that a series of notable names like Overwatch 2, Diablo 4 or Diablo Immortal will certainly not appear at The Game Awards 2021.

It can be said that in this 2021, Blizzard has encountered many big events. From the lawsuit related to workplace sexual harassment, employee suppression to the “escape” of a series of high-level personnel, starting from J. Allen Brack president, Bobby Kotick, human resources director, to to the Diablo IV and World of Warcraft series. Everything has happened so quickly that the “giant” of the world gaming industry has to suffer.

Blizzard can now be said to be a mess. Diablo Immortal has been postponed, Diablo IV has gone unanswered, and Overwatch 2 is likely to also be suspended indefinitely. It will take Blizzard a long, long time to find worthy replacement faces. 2021 is indeed a sad year for Blizzard and their fans.
