The picture of a cosmic black hole inspires fun memes in the gaming community

On April 10, the first image of a cosmic black hole (black hole) was published thanks to the algorithm of Dr. Katie Bouman (of a research team of 200 people) and the Event Horizon Telescope (telescope). And like most things on the Internet, this image of a cosmic black hole has quickly become a meme.

Video game memes are pretty common, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that black hole memes are related to games. Some memes were also posted by the official Twitters of the game companies, as was the case with The Divsion 2: they compared a black hole image to a Division agent’s watch.

Others compared the picture to the Super Smash Bros. logo, Metal Sonic’s eyes, or the Xbox’s circle of death.

The Supper Mario Broth account on Twitter also points out the similarities between the cosmic black hole image and Super Mario Galaxy. Although not a meme, they still compare these two black holes with each other.
