The horror game that was once very popular now has to shut down

Friday the 13th: The Game halted development of new content due to legal troubles in 2018. The game will shut down the server after releasing the next patch this month. This will be the last patch of the title horror game this.

Mr. Matt Shotcha, community developer of Gun Media. He also shared that while the servers will be down soon, players will still be able to play Friday the 13th: The Game through the quick match feature. Gun Media also maintains database servers, meaning all player progress will be preserved.

This ending is certain to come after a lawsuit between two of the creators of the Friday the 13th movie, which forced development of new content for the title to be halted in 2018. Although Gun Media can keep the game going by fixing bugs, but adding new content is strictly prohibited for the duration of the lawsuit.

Mr. Shotcha said Friday the 13th: The Game is still available on Steam and JasonKillsBugs.com so players can re-download the game when something goes wrong. The doubled XP, CP and Tape Drop rates established at the start of the COVID-19 outbreak will remain unchanged.

Gun Media’s announcement ends with a hint that they are working on a new project, but fans will have to wait a long time to learn more about this project. For now, Jason will have to return to his grave at the bottom of Camp Crystal Lake.​
