The developer turned blockbuster The Witcher 3 into a PS1 version with ugly pixel graphics

Entering 2021, developer Anders Lundbjork is back with a brand new video about another CD super product. Project Red – The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

The scene of Geralt sitting in the bathtub in The Witcher 3 is a scene that many gamers will never forget when they first play this game. The memorable scene of this scene is that Geralt is naked in front of gamers, many of whom will be surprised by the many scars of the monster hunter, contributing to making it a famous meme in the gaming world. So it’s no surprise that developer Anders Lundbjork started recreating one of his PS1 versions of The Witcher 3 opening sequence with Geralt in a bathtub.

As gamers can see in the short demake-style clip below, the video opens with a PlayStation 1 intro before moving through the burning flames and transitioning to Geralt of Rivia in the bathtub as seen in The Witcher 3 in 2015 and in the Netflix series with Superman actor Henry Cavill himself. However, the video does not look as polished as in the game of CD Projekt Red. The monster hunter’s flesh is no longer sharp, but rather ugly, rough blocks of pixels, typical for the unmodern graphic style of the years 1995 – 2000.

It is known that The Witcher is an action and role-playing game series developed by CD Projekt Red based on the Saga Witcher novel series by Polish writer Andzej Sapkowski. The game revolves around the main character Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter who possesses superhuman strength and power. After its debut in October 2007, The Witcher quickly achieved many unexpected successes. Then in 2011 and 2015, the sequels of The Witcher were respectively released with the names Assassins of Kings and Wild Hunt.

As for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the game received 2 titles of the best game of the year at E3 2015 and The Game Awards. As of June 2016, CD Projekt RED announced that sales of the entire The Witcher series have reached 18 million copies. This impressive achievement makes it one of the best-selling game series of all time.
