Sad news for the community of gamers who love Fallout 4.
Joel Burgess, a game designer on the Fallout 4 blockbuster development project, recently announced on Twitter that River, the inspiration and role model for the loyal Fallout 4 companion, Dogmeat, has passed away on June 28th. River is an integral part of Dogmeat – the mascot of Fallout 4. River even won Top Video Game Dog of the Year 2015 at the World Dog Awards for its huge contribution in Fallout 4.
For gamers who don’t know, Fallout 4 was originally released in November 2015 on PlayStation 4, XBox One, and PC. This is the next game in the Fallout series of open-world role-playing games. The game is set in the United States but is changed from an imaginary perspective of the 50s of the last century. In the end, the whole world was engulfed in a fierce nuclear war. Players will play as a Boston survivor who comes out of the nuclear bomb shelter and begins a journey to explore the ruined land after the war.
In the process of traveling around post-apocalyptic America, players will be accompanied by a dog named Dogmeat. Dogmeat is considered an extremely friendly companion, he is useful in distracting enemies, carrying items, and is loyal and loving no matter how the player makes decisions. After Fallout 4 was released in 2015, Dogmeat was considered by the gaming community and fans as the mascot of the game Fallout 4. Unfortunately, the inspiration for this loyal dog is no longer in the world. this again.
Former Fallout developer Joel Burgess announced on Twitter the loss of River this morning, sharing his sadness as well as the Fallout 4 development team with fans. However, Joel did not share any specifics as to why River passed away so suddenly.
Over the years, Dogmeat has become a staple in the Fallout games. Many Fallout fans and gaming community will no doubt remember the first time they encountered Dogmeat and will have stories to tell about their experiences with this dog. Although no longer in this world, River or Dogmeat will always live in the community of gamers who love Fallout 4 around the world.
