Rainbow Six Siege: Details of Operation Grim Sky

At the beginning of August, Ubisoft shared the first details about Operation Grim Sky, the next season of Rainbow Six Siege. And this past August 19, the full details of this third campaign were revealed at Six Major Paris: including two new operators Maverick and Clash, as well as a reworked Hereford Base map.

Maverick is a 1 armor, 3 speed operator and his main weapon is an M4 or AR-15 that is tuned to fire using .50 Beowulf caliber ammunition.

According to the short 5-minute video above, Maverick is an American soldier with the ability to “punch holes”. A heavy wall breaker and member of The Unit, his welding torch – Suri Torch – allows him to burn and create holes in any wall, including reinforced walls. This is definitely great news for players who love to shoot through holes. Suri Torch allows the player the freedom to create arbitrary openings, providing flexibility based on the situation.

Clash is a former Scottish police officer. She is the first defensive op equipped with a shield. This shield is not only for protection, but also discharges electricity when approaching the opponent.

Operator This 3 armor, 1 speed uses a CCE (Crow-Control-Electric) shield, which combines the technologies of Mira and Twitch into a single mobile device. Having similarities with Montagne, Clash still brings some unique differences in its gameplay.

Clash can only hold 1 thing, either a shield or a gun. This puts the focus on her unique gear, reaffirming her role as a support, rather than an offensive op. When her bulletproof shield is equipped, its glass sliding mechanism automatically deploys, covering her body from head to toe. This also completely prevents Clash from using her weapon along with her shield.

Activating her device sends a brief electrical pulse to nearby enemies, slowing their movement and dealing a small amount of damage. This element makes her shield play distinctly unique, introducing a new way to support teammates behind shields. The slow transition between shields and weapons also forces Clash to work with allies to destroy enemies.

Grim Sky is slated to arrive on the PC test server on August 20. We don’t have an official word on when the new season will air, but Ubisoft says it will be “available this September. ” If the developer follows the launch timing of previous seasons, this season could fall on September 3 or 4.
