The Pokemon Company has officially announced Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee for the Nintendo Siwtch system. This past Tuesday, both of these games were announced in Japan, helping to confirm recent rumors and leaks. Based on the 1998 Pokemon Yellow for Gameboy, but heavily influenced by Pokemon GO, Pokemon trainers can return to the Kanto region in Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee starting this November 16.
As seen in the trailer Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee, Pokemon GO’s influence is immediately visible. Exploring the world and fighting gameplay based on the Nintendo 3DS versions of the game, catching and fighting Pokemon is similar to Pokemon GO. Players can throw PokeBalls similar to Pokemon GO if they want.
Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee can be connected to Pokemon GO via Bluetooth. Once connected, the Kanto region pokemon that the player has caught in Pokemon GO can be transferred to the Nintendo Switch.
In addition to the Pokemon GO feature, the game has a lot of details about these two Pokemon Let’s Go versions. Perhaps the most interesting thing is that two players can play cooperatively with two characters. Since the game only requires one JoyCon controller per person, two people can use two JoyCon controllers to play together.
Gameplay details may have to wait – but one thing is for sure, this is no ordinary Pokemon game. While Nintendo has said that Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eeve are based on Pokemon Yellow, they are not remakes, and differ from the mainstream games in many important ways.
More information about Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee will be announced at E3 2018. The two games will be showcased alongside the mobile Pokemon game, Pokemon Quest. And more Pokemon games are coming in 2019, as Nintendo confirms Nintendo 3DS versions are still in development.
Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee will release on June 11, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
