DFC Intelligence recently studied and found that nearly half of gamers around the world are PC users. According to research, more than three billion people are customers of the gaming industry, across all platforms.

The study was published this August. They believe that around 3.1 billion people, almost 40% of the world’s population, play video games, and of those, almost half play games on mobile when this is also the fastest growing market.

Into the main topic: 48% of gamers in the 3.1 billion people who play video games are on PC, or 1.5 billion. For comparison, only 8% of genuine people only play consoles, but they are the biggest spenders (per capita). Asia ranks first by data, contributing 1.42 billion game users, and 53% in the mobile game market. Europe is next, with 668 million, and 17% in the mobile segment. Latin America has 383 million PC users and 11% uses mobile platforms, while North America has 261 million and mobile accounts for 4%. The final percentage belongs to MENA (Middle East and North Africa), and accounts for 7% of global mobile gamers.

Mobile games continue to be one of the key growth areas of the industry. It’s so important that Fortnite developer Epic Games is still suing Apple and Google over the game market monopoly controversy.

Currently, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is still leading in terms of revenue. Companies that have invested heavily in the PC game market often benefit, like SEGA’s Person 4: Goolden this summer. Another example is that many of the top AAA titles on Steam have had steady revenue over the years.
