Path of Exile 2 Announced, But Won't Be A Separate Game

Path of Exile 2 has just been announced by ExileCon in Auckland, New Zealand. Although the game carries the number 2, it is not exactly a separate new game. It is an expansion, but will completely change the original game in the process.

Path of Exile 2 will add 7 story chapters, taking place 20 years after the end of the first part. It will continue to retain the game’s core systems and rework the mechanics of each of the seven classes. The game also improves the graphics in terms of physics. For example, bows will bounce off some surfaces or pin in others, depending on their material.

Path of Exile 2 characters will use the same “class archetype” as the original, but you’ll have to create a new character to play the new storyline. Characters in Path of Exile 2 can choose from 19 Ascendancy Classes compared to the old classes – the old class was still playable during the original Path of Exile campaign. The good news is that all your skins will be kept, as they all share the same eco system.

Path of Exile 2 still has a long way to go: Grinding Gear Games says the beta may have to wait until the end of 2020. Before that, Path of Exile expansions will continue to roll out steadily. on a 3-monthly schedule, with new content to be played across the campaigns of both Path of Exile 1 and 2.
