Popular streamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins is one of the few influential people working across multiple streaming platforms. Ninja streamed both on Twitch and YouTube. In a recent video, he believes that Twitch is a better platform for gaming.
Ninja left Mixer in July when the platform closed. While looking for a new destination, he tried to stream on both Twitch and YouTube, reaching peak views of 100,000 and 160,000 respectively.
Streamer has more viewers on YouTube than Twitch with 24 million subscribers, higher than any other platform. Even so, Ninja still returned to the platform that led him to a successful career and signed a multi-year contract with Twitch.
In a recent video, Ninja finally answered the question of what made him choose Twitch over YouTube despite having less subscribers.
“Twitch is the place to stream now. If I can do great things for games and streams, mainly games, I think I will have more impact if I do it on Twitch, instead of YouTube,” Ninja said.
It looks like this popular Fortnite streamer wants to keep the game streamer image instead of just being a YouTuber. Streamer said that the media often reports dramas about YouTubers, not their contributions to the community. Meanwhile, while on Twitch, you can better contribute to the game.
“When someone says ‘you’re my favorite YouTuber’, almost no one thinks you stream on YouTube. They will think about your YouTube videos,” Ninja shared.
Ninja talks about streaming on Facebook Gaming
Ninja tried various streaming platforms but still avoided Facebook Gaming, which invested quite a bit to create their own gaming community. This Fortnite streamer is said to have turned down a big offer from Facebook Gaming not long after Microsoft dropped Mixer. However, he says this healthy competition makes things more interesting.
“Competition is good for everything and everyone, and I think Facebook is doing it very well,” Ninja said.
Ninja currently has 1.6 million followers on Twitch. Immediately after Mixer closed, Ninja became the most sought after streamer. Despite a long break, he still hasn’t been usurped by other streamers on Twitch.
