More than four years after its release, Nier: Automata finally got a new update to solve some graphics issues on the PC version. The patch will launch on Thursday, July 15 on Steam with the main purpose of improving clarity and visual performance on 4K and HDR display.

After the update, the game will automatically switch to HDR mode if the player’s device has HDR enabled in the Windows display settings. Besides, updates also added about 270 UI textures to support 4K . resolution and make game graphics run smoother on new types of screens.

The update also addresses one of the main problems of Nier: Automata on PC, which is frame rate. By default, the frame rate will be stable at 60 fps. For cutscenes, it will all render at the correct aspect ratio without scaling the image.

Other changes like adjusting anti-aliasing or boosting the brightness will make the whole game run smoother. Even very small details like removing the mouse pointer when playing with a controller make the PC version more complete.

Although Nier: Automata was critically acclaimed, the PC version was plagued with frequent game crashes, low frame rates, and laggy cutscenes. While the update doesn’t solve all of the existing problems of Nier: Automata on PC, the increase in frame rates and display options is a way to bring the PC version to near par with the console versions.
