Records show that Counter-Strike creator Minh “Gooseman” Le and Astralis owner Nikolaj Nyholm founded Scattershot Limited in September. This will be a new company related to the gaming sector.

According to the document, the company is registered under business code 62011 UK. This business code covers recreational activities and is primarily focused on computer game design.

Information shows that each person owns 50% of Scattershot and currently has capital of only £100. This figure shows that the duo plans to build Scattershot in the future, with the September registration just to keep the company name for later.

Is Astralis matching Minh Le in CSGO?

Minh Le is known as the author of the original Counter-Strike mod based on the game Half-Life. Minh worked for Valve from 2000 to 2006, then left to work with other video game studios and released pretty quality games including Rust and Black Desert Online. He is also responsible for the development of Tactical Intervention, a game that Minh calls the successor to Counter-Strike. The game launched in 2013 before shutting down the server not long after. Minh last mentioned game design in 2019 when he posted on Twitter about the Plan 8 project being developed by the Pearl Abyess team (famous for Black Desert Online).

Nyholm was elected chairman of the Astralis board in January, replacing previous executive Jette Nygaard-Andersen, who has held the position since Astralis was formed. Nyholm was well known in the Danish tech industry before acquiring Astralis through RFRSH Entertainment. In April 2019, RFRSH split BLAST Entertainment and Astralis Group to avoid a conflict of interest between Astralis and the BLAST Pro tournament organizer.

Given Minh Le’s reputation in the Counter-Strike community and Nyholm’s success with RFRSH or Astralis, Scattershot could be the first signal that Astralis Group intends to expand into video games for esports. It is also possible that the investment in Scattershot is not related to Astralis Group. Anyway, the company registration between him and Minh Le is expected by the community quite a lot.
