Recently, Deep Silver executive producer Jon Bloch talked to Official PlayStation Magazine UK about the upcoming post-apocalyptic game Metro Exodus. The latest information has revealed something interesting about the game’s plot, and he considers it one of the most anticipated games of 2018. This is certainly good news for fans.

In the interview, Bloch said the plot Metro Exodus wider than anything Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light combine. Part of that is due to the larger sandbox gameplay added in Exodus. Here is Bloch’s full statement:

[penci_blockquote style=”style-2″ align=”none” author=”” font_style=”italic”]In short, Metro Exodus’ storyline is broader than 2033 and Last Light combined, including all DLC. We will encounter new social organizations, religions, lifestyles, environments, monsters, and mutants. There will be some familiar things, and there will be some completely new things. Life goes on post-apocalyptic, it develops in so many ways outside of the Moscow region. Some areas will be contaminated with radiation like Moscow, and some areas will not be poisoned or destroyed.”[/penci_blockquote]

This information tells us what to expect outside of the Moscow region. It’s obviously fun, but at the same time scary. A trailer released at The Games Awards 2017 shows Artyom facing the cold in the Russian desert, while also facing other dangers like a pack of mutant dogs. These will contribute to the broader storyline, and one more element of the game: choices.

Metro Exodus has a day/night element and spacious areas to give players a variety of options, it seems like the sandbox gameplay will create more options for players. Talking about this, Bloch also said, “Deciding when and how to approach the situation differently will have an impact on the player’s experience while completing the mission. Reaching the bandit camp at night will be an advantage for players who like to sneak, but there will be more difficulties that players will have to face.”

Given the scale of the plot, the sandbox-style gameplay, and the focus on decision-making, it looks like Metro Exodus will continue the success of 2033 and Last Light. This remains to be seen, but given the fact that Metro Exodus is so much bigger than the previous two games combined, this should be extremely exciting for fans of the series.

Metro Exodus will launch on PC, PS4, and Xbox One in 2018.
