Massive series of games like Warcraft, Diablo, Overwatch, Call of Duty may disappear from PlayStation

As we have reported, Microsoft officially announced the successful acquisition of Activision Blizzard for 68.7 billion USD (~ 1.6 million billion VND). This is considered the largest merger ever in the gaming world and it also demonstrates Microsoft’s hegemony ambitions with this billion-dollar industry.

To acquire the father of Diablo and Call of Duty, Microsoft bought back a huge amount of Activision Blizzard shares at an average price of about $ 95 per share. This boosted Activision Blizzard’s stock by more than 25% in just a few days. This is considered the largest acquisition ever by Microsoft. Before that, the father of Windows bought LinkedIn in 2016 for $ 26.2 billion.

Some analysts point out that Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard could be a good thing for gamers. When in recent times, Activision Blizzard has been constantly criticized for the controversy surrounding “sexual harassment” in the company that makes the gaming community no longer trust this game studio. However, Microsoft’s acquisition of a large game production studio, which owns the Call of Duty and World of Warcraft brands, could greatly affect the current console market.

Microsoft executives say that Microsoft plans to bring as many Activision titles to Xbox Game Pass as possible. There are also reports that Microsoft may launch a game exclusively for Xbox and PC consoles. This immediately raised a concern that big games like Call of Duty and World of Warcraft might never appear on Sony’s Playstation system again.

In a recent announcement, Sony expects that after Microsoft completes the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, the studio’s titles can still appear on the PlayStation platform. “We expect Microsoft to abide by the contractual agreements to continue to ensure the cross-platform nature of Activision’s titles.”

Overall, it seems that Activision Blizzard titles will remain on the PlayStation or not is a decision of Microsoft. Activision Blizzard is responsible for many popular games such as Call of Duty, Warcraft, CandyCrush, Tony Hawk, Diablo, Overwatch, etc….
