Effective nade throwing in CSGO is key to winning the round, and the latest CSGO update will make this process easier for you to practice.
Deploying a bombsite or defending them often requires you to know how to use the utility (smoke/flash/molly/grenade) effectively. Players often have to rely on practice tools to help them correctly, but sometimes it is very difficult, sometimes forcing you to guess.
However, with the new update, this process has been somewhat improved, allowing you to discover new casting angles with ease.
In the September 19 update, Valve announced new console commands for nade throwing practice.
‘cl_grenadepreview’ will update the nade’s flight direction directly before it is thrown. This helps players plan their throws from the start, instead of having to throw and wait for the nade to leave a trace from the ‘sv_grenade_trajectory’ command.
Players can also follow and track the nade without having to throw it themselves. The ‘sv_rethrow_last_grenade’ command allows you to re-throw the last nade on the server, to test how well it performs from other perspectives.
Finally, you can freeze the nade’s throw for analysis with the ‘cl_sim_grenade_trajetory’ command. Previously, ‘cl_grenade_trajetory_time’ forced the player to add a certain amount of time to see the nade’s throw. Now, you can prevent them from disappearing forever.
Initially, players responded positively to this update. Popular YouTuber “WarOwl” says it will make it “much easier to find and practice nades”.
This change is part of improving the quality of training in CSGO. Recently, Valve updated the framework for bots in the Deathmatch server, so that they behave more realistically.
If you’ve long wanted to learn new flash angles on Mirage, or experiment with smoke in Inferno, now’s your chance to perfect them even easier.
