Note: Counter-Strike runs on a tweaked version of the Source engine and uses more CPU resources than GPU. If you are using an old CPU and want to play CSGO, you should upgrade your CPU first.

If you have never updated your graphics card driver, go to NVDIA’s download website, find the graphics card you are using, and install the driver. Once you have updated the driver to the latest version, right-click on the desktop, and select NVIDIA Control Panel from the list.

A new window will open with two separate areas. On the left is a list of different configurations, while on the right are the active monitors attached to the computer.

If you have a 144 or 240Hz monitor, make sure the refresh rate value is correct for the monitor. There have been cases, some of you used 144Hz screens but never changed the refresh rate and let it default to 60hz. Remember to check again.

When done, look to the left item. In the “3D Settings” section, select, “Adjust Image settings with previews”. Select the circle next to “Use the advanced 3D image settings” before going back to the left menu and choosing “Manage 3D Settings”.

DSR – Factors

Dynamic Super Resolution is great for things like screenshots, but it hurts performance. Low Latency Mode

Depends on how powerful your CPU is. Low Latency Mode can be a double-edged sword. The configuration limits the amount of frames the CPU can process before the GPU can display them, meaning what the player sees will happen more closely to reality.

Imagine, someone took 20 pictures of a running dog in 20 seconds. Instead of taking 1 photo 1 second, they took 12 photos in the first 5 seconds, 2 photos in 10 seconds, and one photo in the next 6 seconds.

If the pictures were taken once every second for 20 seconds, and shown to someone, you would obviously realize that the dog was running.

The second example more accurately describes the events that occurred. Low Latency Mode works similarly. By limiting how much the CPU can preprocess, the player will get an accurate description of what is happening right now inside a CS game.

But if your CPU doesn’t keep up with the tempo, the player will feel jerky and screen tearing, so we’ll turn it off in this case.

If your computer is strong, turn it on. Otherwise, turn it off until the day the CPU is upgraded to the same level as the GPU.

Max Frame Rate

Some think having a higher frame rate than the monitor’s refresh rate is useless. This is not correct. Preferred Refresh Rate

For those who have a monitor capable of displaying a refresh rate higher than 60Hz, it should be set to “Highest available”. Even if your monitor is only running at 60Hz, it’s still a good idea to make sure the GPU knows how many frames to give to the screen.

While you can set CSGO’s refresh rate using the game’s launch options, let the GPU take over. But players should add -freq 144 or -freq 240 to their launch options, if your monitor can afford it.

In fact, CSGO hasn’t used these commands for years and defaults to Windows or driver configuration by default. It is best to “be careful and uncompromising”.

Many people think that CSGO gamers should turn it off. Don’t do that!

Almost any Shader and Shadow configuration has a big impact on the CPU of the computer, so many people often think that anything related to shadows should be turned off.

However, this configuration runs first and stores shaders available on the hard drive, to give the CPU more resources in the game, depending on what your processor is. Finally, if you’ve tested the above configurations and consistently get higher FPS than the monitor’s refresh rate, disable V-Sync for both CS and NVIDIA Control Panel.

If your computer sometimes has an FPS below the refresh rate and recovers quickly, use the “Adaptive” profile. Adaptive is suitable for weak PCs that cannot run CSGO smoothly. It turns off V-Sync when the framerate is lower than the refresh rate, and if it is higher, it will limit it.

V-Sync can get in the way, but missing a headshot because of frame tearing is even worse. With V-Sync turned on, you’ll at least have a chance to headshot.

Want high FPS in CSGO, you need to experiment

Once done, click “Apply” and close the NVIDIA Control Panel. No two PCs are alike. So what can slow down one machine makes another run fast, so you’ll need to experiment back and forth to find the best configuration.
