Instructions to adjust the best Viewmodel to climb CSGO rank 2020

The internet is full of tutorials claiming to be the “best viewmodel” for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. In fact, the best viewmodel configuration for CSGO is up to each player, but you can use a ‘safe’ configuration if you want. The worst thing you can do is copy someone else’s entire viewmodel. So the CSGO viewmodel adjustment tutorial will help you figure out where the new viewmodel is right for you.

While players can configure the viewmodel as they like, that doesn’t mean you should. To start, here are a few things that players should keep in mind before reading the article:

  • Avoid letting it get in the way as much as possible
  • Avoid placing in the middle of the screen
  • Set viewmodel opposite to your right eye direction

Start the viewmodel commands in the autoexec file with the following command to make sure any changes start from a neutral point:

Viewmodel CSGO commands: Find your dominant eye

Unlike most shooting games, Counter-Strike has a command to change the viewmodel from right hand to left hand. This is also very important before diving into the tutorial on editing the csgo viewmodel. Research has shown that the more free space you have on your dominant eye, the better your accuracy and object detection will be.

Everyone has a dominant eye, and it’s like being right or left handed. When placing the CSGO viewmodel in the opposite direction, the player can create space for the right eye to work, quickly finding the object present on that side of the screen. You can find out which of your eyes is the right eye by following these steps:

  1. Bring your hands forward and create a triangle with your thumbs and index fingers, forming a 45-degree angle (see video above)
  2. With both eyes open, align the space in the center of the triangle onto a distant object – like a clock on the wall or a doorknob.
  3. Close your left eye.
  4. If the object is in the middle, then the right eye (open eye) is the dominant eye. If the object is not between your hands, the left eye is the dominant eye.

Here is another way to check the right eye:

  1. Straighten your non-dominant hand, with your hand clenched and your thumb up to the sky (acceptance/OK fist).
  2. Open both eyes and focus on a distant object, with your thumb overlapping the object.
  3. Take turns closing one eye.
  4. The eye that still keeps your thumb on the object while the other eye is closed is the dominant eye.

While it’s not a perfect test, it’s accurate enough as long as your thumb stays centered. Using the non-dominant hand makes the test more accurate, since the dominant hand often slips. If you really want to take advantage, you should use cl_righthand(0,1) to change the viewmodel to the opposite direction with the right eye.

  • If right-eyed, use “cl_righthand 0”
  • If left-eyed, use “cl_righthand 1”

Instructions for using the command to customize Viewmodel in CSGO

In Counter-Strike, the character’s viewmodel includes hands, arms, and weapons. The user can move the viewmodel in three axes:

  • Forward or backward from the center of the screen, or x-axis
  • Forward or backward from the character, or y-axis
  • Move to the bottom or top of the screen, or axis-z

Here is an example of the damage of an inappropriate viewmodel:

Often, players want their viewmodel to take up as little of the screen as possible. The less space the weapon model takes up, the better your chances of spotting your opponent. The player can use the following console commands to move the viewmodel:

  • viewmodel_offset_x # (minimum -2.5, maximum 2.5) the lower the value, the closer the viewmodel moves to the center of the screen
  • viewmodel_offset_y # (minimum -2.2, max 2.2) the lower the value, the closer the CSGO viewmodel moves towards the player
  • viewmodel_offset_z # (minimum -2.2 up to 2.2) the lower the value, the more CSGO viewmodel moves to the bottom of the screen

Change CSGO FOV with viewmodel_fov.

Viewmodel CSGO has a FOV configuration, but it doesn’t add as much play space as other shooters. Instead, it affects the viewmodel space that the player can see.

This is the difference between viewmodel_fov 68 and 60. CSGO max FOV is “68”. True FOV camera at 16:9 aspect ratio locked at 90 degree angle in any competition server.

This is the maximum visibility of the viewmodel that Counter-Striek supports, and the difference between 60 and 68 is clearly visible. Increasing viewmodel_fov gives the player more space to see, because by default 60 takes up a lot of the screen.

Other CSGO viewmodel editing commands

There are many other viewmodel commands in CSGO that can affect a player’s ability to shoot. Experimenting with these commands can be beneficial depending on your preferences.

Viewmodel CSGO will move the character, changing direction depending on the character’s movement. You can use the following commands to limit the viewmodel’s movement during scrolling:

  • cl_bobamt_lat # (default “0.4”) (lowest “-0.1” up to “2”) – the lower the value, the less the viewmodel moves back and forth.
  • cl_bob_lower_amt # (default “21”) (lowest “5” up to “30”) the lower the value, the less the viewmodel moves to/back from the player
  • cl_bob_amt_vert # (default “0.25”) (lowest “0.1” up to “2”) – the lower the value, the less CSGO’s viewmodel will shift onto the gun when the character runs.

The command below changes how the gun’s recoil is displayed when firing. In other words, it affects how far the weapon model travels across the screen. This command does not affect the recoil pattern, it only changes how the displacement of the gun is displayed.

  • viewmodel_recoil # (ten)

The best way to tell the difference between these commands is to test them yourself. Maybe their impact is not too great but will affect the way you shoot.
