Agony wants to be one of the scariest and most haunting horror games ever, and based on what we’ve seen, it’s slowly accomplishing its goal. For anyone who doesn’t believe this, check out the latest trailer from developer Madmind Studio, with a new mode called Agony Mode.
Agony Mode in Agony pushes the game’s difficulty up a lot. Players will explore the hellish labyrinth with just one life, while having to fend off all kinds of monsters and demons. Players will appear in the leaderboard to compete with friends and online players, adding a social element to the game.
Like previous Agony trailers, the new trailer focuses heavily on violence. As we said, Agony wants to make himself one of the most haunting horror games, and the game tries to achieve that through its gore and violence. At one point, Agony had so much violent, gory content that it almost got the game rated as Adults Only (Adults Only) from the ESRB – this would limit the game’s sales quite a bit.
A few changes were made to bring the game’s age down to M, but it still scares players. And for any PC gamer who wants to get a feel for the Adults Only version, they can add patches to the game if they want.
In addition to being extremely violent, Agony wants to create more content for players to experience. With the arrival of Agony Mode, fans will have many things to do after completing the main story.
Agony launches May 29 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
