Team Cherry has announced a sequel to the metroiodvania-style Hollow Knight on its website, along with a new trailer and colorful in-game images.

In Hollow Knight: Silksong, you play as the guardian of Hallownest’s princess, Hornet. The princess was kidnapped and taken to another land. That means the game will take place in a different setting, with beautiful drawings, monster bosses and insect-man towns. It seems the new setting will create more variety than the ruined city of the previous Hollow Knight. The website also mentions “gilded cities, rivers of fire, and fields of mist”.

Hornet will feature 150 new enemies with dynamic combat systems and new tools. You can see some of the items used by Hornet in the trailer above.

This is great news as Hollow Knight is a very successful indie game. It was lauded for its interesting map design and compelling narrative that won the GOTY 2017 award. It looks like the sequel’s map will be bigger than Hallownest.

Hollow Knight: Silksong will be available on Steam, GOG, Humble Store, and Nintendo Switch. We don’t have a release date yet, but those who back the game’s first part on Kickstarter will get the game for free. You can follow more information on Team Cherry’s blog.
