One of the most notable moments of the Battlefield 2042 trailer was actually inspired by gamer Stun_gravy.

In the 5-minute trailer of Battlefield 2042, one of the most impressive moments for gamers is the scene of two dogfight jets.

The plane being chased suddenly flew across the sky to increase its altitude. The pilot then jumped out of the cockpit, shot down the enemy machine with his Carl Gustaf recoilless rifle, and then free-falled back into the cockpit.

As soon as witnessing this impressive moment, many gamers recalled the classic video of gamer Stun_gravy. More specifically, this gamer did the same move, using an RPG rocket launcher to shoot down enemies in the game Battlefield 3 in 2011.

Thanks to the scene of the trailer, the highlight of Stun_gravy has received a strong wave of views. Although it is not clear how much of his video before the trailer was released, the video currently has more than 13.5 million views and is increasing at the time of writing.

Besides Stun_gravy, another gamer, Russkhof, is also implementing the same technique. However, since he didn’t fly straight into the sky like Stun, it can be seen that DICE chose the inspiration above.

Stun_gravy actually makes a more impressive highlight, when he uses a sniper rifle to take down the pilot instead of a rocket gun. However, perhaps because there is no explosion effect, DICE did not use this scene as inspiration for the trailer.

Battlefield 2042 is a pure multiplayer game that allows 128 players to confront each other on 7 large maps and play 4 different classes. The game will feature new seasonal content and will launch on October 22 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
