Final Fantasy 15 Announces 4 More Story DLCs

When Final Fantasy came out in 2016, publisher Square Enix promised more story-related DLC. Although the game has had many new parts, players can expect new DLC updates in 2019.

At the PAX East event, Square Enix talked about the content release roadmap for Final Fantasy 15, which includes four new chapters in the story, with the finale giving a “final ending.” Details of each subsequent chapter are as follows:

  • “The Conflict of the Sage,” the first chapter will focus on Ardyn’s backstory, on his “clashes with the Astrals” and his longtime feud with Lucius.
  • The sequel is described as a side story rather than a chapter, the next character in the second DLC is Arenea Highwind. This chapter details the last days of the empire, described by Square Enix as “Aranea’s worst day”.
  • “The Choice of Freedom”, the second chapter focuses on Lunafreya. It will detail Luna’s fate, said to be “not even death can save her.”
  • “The Final Strike”, the third and final chapter of 2019 will see Noctis at the heart of this installment, detailing his “final battle”, in hopes of securing a better future for the people. .

The decision to add a new storyline to Final Fantasy 15 comes as no surprise. Last year, the publisher surveyed players about the backstories of the characters they’d like to see in future DLCs. And the results we have seen above. The four new chapters mean the game will have a total of eight story-related updates since the game’s launch.

While the game’s narration received mixed reviews upon its release, Square Enix used DLC to cover up flaws discovered by players. Hopefully the new content of the game will not disappoint players.
