Final Fantasy 14 ‘clones’ Pokemon GO on April Fools’ Day

Final Fantasy 14 'clones' Pokemon GO on April Fools' Day

Every year on April Fools’ Day, people should be wary of what they read online. Take Square Enix as an example, they announced Final Fantasy 14 GO as an April Fools joke.

While Square Enix may have made a joke of Pokemon GO on this occasion, they decided to choose Final Fantasy 14 GO. In general, this application requires players to collect materials in many locations, similar to the tasks they usually do in Final Fantasy 14 Online.

The vast majority of MMOs don’t want to emphasize plowing in their games, so it’s quite interesting for Square Enix to touch on this topic in Final Fantasy 14 GO. It must be said that the game does not borrow much from Pokemon GO, but it has the same social weaknesses as Niantic’s mobile game. Unfortunately, catching Pokemon will be more interesting than having to collect minerals.

Quite humorously back a few years ago, Square Enix didn’t dare make Final Fantasy 14 a joke. The PC and console versions of this MMO game were a big disappointment at launch, but Square Enix continued to support it and remade it with a new name, A Realm Reborn. Now, the game is extremely developed and has had two expansions, Heavensward and Stormborn over the years.

Some gamers really want Final Fantasy 14 GO to be a reality, so they can keep playing the game while out and about. But in the end, this is just a pretty funny joke from Square Enix.

Final Fantasy 14 is available now on PC, PS3, PS4 and Mac.
