After winning FaZe 3-1 to win the ESL Pro League, Fer had a small interview with cyberspot about the match, about the moment when it seemed like FaZe could flip the bet when the Guardian clutch 1v2, ending with Fallen stabbing phase on map train.
Congratulations on your win, Tell us what you think about this match?
We actually considered winning 3-0. We had too many rounds of foul play on the inferno map, including the green round while playing CT. After all, we played well, we brought Boltz into the squad, because we knew what we needed from him, and we actually played better, so we won. I am worthy.
Speaking of map train, you guys got an early 8-0 advantage, then FaZe equalized and pushed the game to overtime shootouts. Then with mental strength, SK won. How do you feel after finishing this map?
For us, the map ends when one of the two teams wins 16 rounds first, so if we win 8 rounds in a row, FaZe can do that too. Then we knew we had to play very carefully, but we started to lose. I don’t know the exact reason, because I’m a bit confused now, maybe because we force-buy too much but it still doesn’t work. In the OT shoot, we were SK team, the team that never lost in this round, so we were confident and we won.
Fer, tell us in the situation where Fallen was stabbed in the Guardian’s 1v2 clutch, how did you guys react in the voice-chat team when it was actually Fallen that was able to defuse the bomb?
It was a 2v2 situation, I got a kill in ivy and we knew Guardian would be mid, Fallen told me he would smoke and defuse the bomb. At the time I thought Fallen had a kit, but it didn’t. Then he started defusing the bomb and said “we won, we won”. When the Guardian got my life, I noticed that we still had to defuse the bomb in 4 seconds, and I was like “oh my god”. But I remember the Guardian only played with the CZ-75, and before that when he was playing 2v3 he shot me a few bullets while I was standing in the blue compartment, and I knew for sure the Guardian wouldn’t have a lot of ammo left. to be able to finish Fallen’s life, so I also said in the team voice chat “we will win, we will win”. But life didn’t go as expected, Guardian missed the first shot, but he succeeded on the 2nd round of stabbing, we were like “oh my god” because losing the round was so sad, but you know what it’s supposed to be happens, it will happen.
This is the second win for you guys in the Intel Grand Slam, what do you think of this initiative from ESL?
I think they’re smart, because when they push the prize pool up to $1mil, it attracts people to the prize pool. For players, there is nothing to lose by participating in the competition, so we can win 4 prizes, bringing in a $1mil bonus, which also means they get more in return, maybe is $10mil, so it’s a win-win.
This is the team’s last competition activity in 2017, do you have any plans during the break?
I will go back to Brazil, visit my hometown, relatives and family, because you know we have to go away from home to practice in the USA, unlike other gamers in Europe or North America, when they have They can live, train and compete without being too separated from their families, in the US we live with Counter-Strike, so sometimes there are some problems that are hard to share. We will take advantage of this time to rest well and come back ready to compete next year.
