Yesterday, Kotaku reported that popular Twitch streamer, Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek, was playing PUBG with a hacker. Shroud climbed into the flying car, and immediately got himself at least one life when the hacker told him where the opponent was hiding. This action will most likely lead to Shroud being banned. This cheat was captured and shared in the clip below, including the moment at 6:19 when Shroud laughs and says, “I’ll be banned.”

And… Shroud was right. During last night’s stream, Shroud said that he was indeed temporarily banned. “I just want to have fun. But obviously I understand what I did. That’s not a good idea at all. At first it was. But not really. I apologize to everyone I offended, about the hacker and the flying car,” he said in a clip on Twitch. “I was banned for a month.”
Shroud isn’t too upset about being banned but he deserves credit for admitting he broke the rules. At the end of the first video, at around 8:50, when the hacker says he is selling hacks and Shroud immediately speaks up, telling him “Don’t say anything more.” Clearly Shroud knew he had gone too far.
The reaction in the community was very mixed. Popular streamers like Shroud can be taken lightly and get through it, while the rest believe that Shroud simply wants to condemn the problem that exists in PUBG. After that match, Shroud himself said that he was saddened by PUBG’s failure in its efforts to fight hackers.
“This shows that PUBG doesn’t care because that guy should be banned immediately,” Shroud said at the end of the video. “He met me twice. The first time he drove over me, it was pretty quick, but whatever. The second time, he parked the car and I killed him while the car was flying over the house. At that point, this hacker should be banned immediately. The third time, I myself ignored it and said I would entertain him. Let’s see how long it takes for me to get banned too. Now, the two are in the car together, but he hasn’t been friends yet.”
(Shroud also described the round as “the most enjoyable PUBG match I have ever played,” however, everyone knows what that means.)
Fair or not, PUBG Corp. have previously shown they are not afraid of the game’s popular streamers when they go too far: Dr. Disrespect was also previously banned last summer for killing his teammate.
