Wall Street analytics firm Cowen predicted Destiny 2’s bleak future. Although Bungie wasn’t strong at communicating with users, they were able to keep the game interesting for players old and new. However, when adding other problems arising from Bungie and their product, gamers started to leave this game.

This is most visible in the Twitch community. The original Destiny game hit 14,000 to 17,000 followers on Friday afternoons, but Destiny 2 only averaged 4,000 to 7,000 followers. With viewership dismal, Cowen analyst Doug Creutz said, “Clearly Call of Duty: WWII is having a great break, looking ahead to a profitable 2018. And Destiny 2 is struggling to attract players in the game.”

To back up his predictions, Creutz gave four big reasons for the current state of Destiny 2:

[penci_blockquote style=”style-2″ align=”none” author=”” font_style=”italic”]1.) “The initial design decision made Destiny 2 less integrated, less of its own character than Destiny 1.”

2.) “Trading in the game is not as catastrophic as Star War Battlefront 2, it is still a cause of dissatisfaction among players.”

3.) “Bungie’s unclear communication in response to player feedback has disappointed them.”

4.) “Until recently, Bungie has not clearly communicated its future direction, especially when compared to similar titles.”[/penci_blockquote]

For those reasons, Creutz doesn’t believe Activision can restore Destiny 2’s reputation, especially since shares of Activision Blizzard have dropped 7 percent. For many gamers, it may be a little late to save Destiny 2 – with fierce competition from games like Division and Warframe, players are now looking for alternatives to the Destiny franchise.

While Destiny 2 seems to be in dire straits, there are glimmers of light. A Destiny 2 executive has revealed new exotic weapons that will bring the game back to its original roots. This can be a signal of encouragement to many gamers. Creutz concludes his analysis, “We think Bungie still has a chance to fix the problems in the game next year and regain interest from the community, but we’re not sure they’ll be able to. do it now.”

Destiny 2 Available now on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
