Virtus.pro went through a difficult post-TI9 shuffle and now has only three full members. Even so, VP decided to give the two players a chance and competed in the regional qualifiers of the MDL Chengdu Major with Egor “epileptick1d” Grigorenko and Vitalie “Save-” Melnic.
At the start of this DPC season, the Major and Minor qualifiers are merged into one event, and those who don’t make it to the top 2 in the group stage of the Major qualifiers will have a chance to continue at the Minor. In the CIS region, Virtus.pro was one of the teams that didn’t make it to the Major, but won one of the two CIS tickets to the DOTA Summit 11 Minor. Unfortunately, Beyond the Summit announced that VP will not attend the Minor due to Visa problems. The way BTS announced on Twitter forced VP executive Roman Dvoryankin to speak up and express his disappointment.
In the official announcement, VP talked about the pressure the DPC tournament can bring on new players and emphasized it’s better to let them build up slowly. In addition, VP also confirmed that visa problems were a real problem for some of the team members.
“The Minor qualifiers showed the potential of our squad. However, the team needed time to get ready, and this extra pressure only got in the way. Not to mention, Visa issues are the extra cause. The possibility of missing the tournament because it is not certain that the visa application will be completed, is quite possible,” Roman Dvoryankin said.
As Beyond the Summit tries to bring in the 3rd place CIS qualifying team fshfh178, Virtus.pro has confirmed it will attend ESL One Hamburg, which kicks off October 25 at the Barclaycard Arena.
