Newbee and Aster are the two teams with the most changes in this DPC season. Indeed, both teams have had a terrible season. However, Aster got off to a better start with two wins in the Major qualifiers, Kuala Lumpur and Chongqing. Unfortunately, they were among the four lowest ranked teams in these two Majors, forcing coach and Aster co-owner Xu “BUrNIng” Zhilei to constantly change players, trying to find the best formula. for early results.

On the other hand, Newbee did not qualify for any DPC qualifiers. However, they attended MDL Macau in February 2019 and finished in the top 4, just behind Virtus.pro, Evil Geniuses and Team Liquid. Their roster has changed almost weekly over the past few months, most recently losing Luo “Ferrari_430” Feichi to EHOME. Ferrari then played for Newbee’s second team, Mr. Game Boy, but according to Zhang “xiao8” Ning, Ferrari did not agree with the decision to remove Wen “awen” Lipeng from the main squad, so he also wanted to leave. Interestingly enough, awen is now on Newbee’s final lineup, but one of the surprises is that Xu “Moogy” Han has to leave.

Moogy and Song “Sccc” Chun have played together on Newbee’s main roster and have been one of the most experienced core duos in the pro scene since September 2016.

Together, they took Newbee to the finals of TI7. After a heartbreaking 0-3 defeat to Team Liquid in Seattle, Newbee’s performance got worse and worse. Moogy is now officially on the bench, and his role will be replaced by former Sccc teammate from 2014-2015 at Newbee Young, Tan “JiaJia” Lijia. Previously, JiaJia played in the offlane, but now he is ready to be the carry for the official Newbee lineup.

Another interesting change is that Lu “Fenrir” Chao, on loan from Aster, will play as a position 5 support.

“This is the final change before TI9 and we are absolutely training hard for the upcoming Minor and Major qualifiers,” Newbee said on his official channel on May 5.

Newbee’s new lineup:

  • Tan “JiaJia” Lijia
  • Song “Sccc” Chun
  • Wen “awen” Lipeng
  • Yan “Waixi” Chao
  • Lu “Fenrir” Chao
  • Coach: Wang “Banana” Jiao
