In 7.20, Dragon Knight was still the strong mid pick, and now the hero’s passive armor has become even more effective. Besides, Monkey King has a free Manta dodge, and Meepo continues to dominate the match. However, this patch brings some interesting changes, especially the presence of new heroes in the meta. Some support heroes can play in a more core position, giving captains more options to trick opponents during drafts.
Drow Ranger is one of the most effective heroes that makes full use of the new Wraith Band stats
At first glance, Drow’s changelog in 7.20 looks like it was heavily nerfed. But with a few tweaks in 7.20b, then her ability to jump 120 damage in 7.20c brought her back. There is no Agility ultimate and the ability to stay long with as much armor as before, but in return, Drow farm is extremely fast from level 6 onwards. In addition to the traditional carry safelane position, several teams have demonstrated Drow’s power in mid.
During the Bucharest Minor, OG.Topson hit 740 GPM in 20 minutes with just a few Wraith Bands and Blink Dagger. Although he was mobilized to create space and help stack ancient, Drow Ranger was still strong enough with only a few items. Surely this hero will appear more in pubs.
SumaiL cheated with stolen Eclipse
Rubick’s Fade Bolt has always been a valuable laning tool, and now it’s even more annoying in mid. Rubick’s base damage has been increased, plus a new passive, Arcane Supremacy, that makes loot attacks more powerful than the original. Telekinesis has been nerfed, but that doesn’t change the skill build or effectiveness of Rubick in mid. Fade Bolt with two Nulls and level 4 Arcane Supremacy will deal close to 425 damage (not counting magic resistance). Add in stolen spells and Rubick can completely hold the mid-game.
The OD remake brought this hero back to mid
Since the rework, Outworld Devourer has had a low win rate in this patch, but the hero has been quite successful at high ranks and professionally. Although OD no longer manages mana automatically, the hero still maintains his mana with the new Equilibrium move. What you need is an Astral Imprisonment on the creep wave to restore almost all of your mana. OD benefits from the new Null Talisman and Kayra, not to mention, the hero now has a slow and a way to farm in the blink of an eye. Although OD still retains its previous weaknesses, it is completely possible to blow up the opponent with just a few Null Talisman and a Kaya.
Fata got a double kill, showing the effectiveness of the new Inner Fire
Huskar loses his magic resistance, but in return has Inner Vitality built into Berserker’s Blood. The hero’s win rate increased by 7 points, from 47% in 7.19 to 54% last week. All of Huskar’s talents are significantly buffed, the hero no longer relies on mana to heal, and Bracer increases the buff of Strength heroes. However, Huskar is still at a disadvantage when facing Phantom Assassin, but with Disarm, the new Inner Fire, it has somewhat mitigated its weaknesses.
With Level 10 Talent +75 Damage, Dazzle only takes a few hand attacks and level 4 Poison Touch to kill most heroes early to mid game.
Traditionally a support hero, Dazzle is used as a core hero on quite a few professional teams. PSG.LGD used the offlane position, while Liquid’s Matumbaman took the mid. Dazzle’s Bad Juju has just been nerfed, and while it’s no longer picked/original like we saw at the Chongqing Major, Dazzle shouldn’t be taken lightly. Guardian Greaves’ 20 second cooldown is almost overwhelming, and the armor passive, +15 for heroes below 20% health, becomes more effective thanks to the reworked armor formula.
This hero also goes well with Phantom Assassin, as well as a great match with PA. In the final against Na`Vi at Megafon Winter, Liquid’s Dazzle and Io held up well to the damage Na`Vi’s PA took – staying long enough while BKB was activated by the PA.
