Liquid with rookie w33 will have the opportunity to prove that they are still a formidable force at the EPICENTER major. And Gambit finally has the moves it needs to become one of the strongest teams in the world.
Evil Geniuses started Group B against Infamous and showed why they are the 3rd place team this season. Infamous had a few shining moments, but overall, it was still an easy 2-0 win for EG.

After the kickoff match, Liquid made their w33 debut in the series against Gambit. Although the team does not have a good track record against the top teams, Gambit is still considered Liquid’s opponent.
At ESL One Birmingham in May, Gambit beat Liquid 2-1. In the tournament, w33 adapted to the new lineup early to create an extremely tight series.
After missing a rotation that let Gambit take a turret, w33 single-handedly pushed and claimed a turret for Liquid. He continued to roam around the map after completing his mid push role and became a key role in many small skirmishes.
Due to being an important element of Liquid in game 1, Gambit this time took care of w33 more carefully. Even though he picked Invoker as his champion, w33 still couldn’t do anything because Gambit was ready to counter strategy. The CIS team controlled the rest of game 2 and equalized the series 1-1.

Continuing to trust w33, Liquid drafted another champion of his, Windranger, along with support Chen. Liquid took the early advantage to take the lead with a 2-1 victory. Liquid quickly met EG.

EG won game 1 easily, thanks to the combo Sven and Morphling – the duo that brought success to the North American boys many times this season. But they were not able to use it successfully in the following game as Liquid were able to adapt and equalized the series 1-1.
Liquid got themselves 73 kills in the next 2 games, while EG only got 22. That earned the team a spot to win the main event in the main event.

With only one winning bracket left in Group B, Gambit had to meet EG and this time they were the party that made the surprise.
Gambit is completely destructive. With the mentality of winning Infamous in the previous game, the team finished EG 32 times to win game 1.
Game 2 went worse for the North American team. Even though Syed “SumaiL” Hassan used his hero Storm Spirit, Gambit still found a way to counter SumaiL.
EG Dota falls in Game 2 and drop the decider series 0-2 to @GambitEsports, GGs. Our Lower Bracket run will start on Monday at 7pm Moscow time. #EGReady

This win gives Gambit a ticket to the winning bracket with Liquid, Team Secret and Royal Never Give Up.
