Regardless of how you feel about the game’s new event, there’s a good chance we’ll have to play it if we want to complete the weekly quests. Although not much different from the regular Turbo Dota mode, but Nemestice has some points to note.
SUITABLE TEMPO
Nemestice is very fond of tempo heroes. The strongest heroes at level 12-18 play very successfully in this mode. However, there are a few things you have to pay attention to.
There are two groups of tempo. One is the heroes that are “online” very quickly and the other is the heroes that farm very quickly to get “online” earlier than the first group.
For example, Templar Assassin mostly belongs to group two. TA is a tempo hero not because of the strong early game combat, but because the hero can get 3 items in 20 minutes by farming in lane and jungle at the same time.
Nemestice doesn’t have a jungle, so heroes who get an item or two and are ready to fight are often preferred, compared to heroes that have to depend on farming. For that reason, many of the strongest heroes in Nemestice are supports.
HARD TO SUPPORT LOOK
Support heroes with strong nuke and strong potential later on are among the best Nemestice heroes. Let everyone pick the carry, and we’ll be the real helpers 99% of the time.
With items that increase skill damage, some nukers can be significantly stronger. Nuker can be very powerful later, like Lion, Ancient Apparition and even Skywrath Mage.
They are not only strong for pushing but also strong in making the opponent disappear in a split second. The article realized that in Nemetice, as long as you can kill your opponent fast enough and continuously, you will destroy the turret. In addition, the author strongly opposes playing heroes with long cooldowns, so build a way to reduce cooldown as well as increase attack speed.
COOLDOWN REDUCTION > MAGIC DAMAGE UP. ATTACK SPEED > DAMAGE
The traditional way of crafting needs to be adjusted to match Nemestice. Mostly, it has to do with damage items and magic damage boosts that don’t give much value compared to the shards obtained in Nemestice.
Kaya or Bloodstone’s 15% increase in damage won’t make a big difference in the game, where heroes can take over 50%+ magic damage from shards. The article doesn’t say you shouldn’t build Kaya or Bloodstone, but don’t build them just for the damage, but focus on their cooldown reduction.
RATE HANDLING
Nemestice’s biggest problem is that it promotes Rat gameplay. Even after the update, heroes like Nature’s Prophet are still very annoying to encounter. Ban in this mode is also not guaranteed, so you often have to deal with split-push quite a lot.
Mobility is the most effective against split-push heroes. The Nesmestice map is smaller than the regular Dota map, but it’s still large enough to spend quite a bit of time moving around the map. Heroes that can shorten movement a lot will give a big advantage when facing split-push heroes.
All Spirits, as well as the Queen of Pain, are suitable for anti-rat roles and are also useful in general. This is one of the few hero groups that benefit greatly from increased magic damage and damage.
EPILOGUE
The article feels that the approach to Nemestice mode is similar to a regular Dota game, but needs to focus more on Rat issues. On one hand, it’s not as unique as last year’s Aghanim’s Labyrinth. On the other hand, it is seen as the first improvement step to introduce Dota to new and long-lost players – maybe this is Valve’s true intention.
As for the author personally, playing Nemestice with friends has been a good time away from Dota. The game is fast paced and focuses on teamfight, instead of macros and lanes. It is also suitable to ‘warmup’ before climbing the rank. So what do you think of Nemetice? Do you like this mode or something “less Dota”? Please share your opinions and maybe tips for playing Nemestice in the comment section below.
