Dota 2: How does Dota Plus improve yourself?

Dota 2 is a game that is loved by many people, not only because of what happens in the game but also because of the things going on around the Dota 2 community. From the pro tournament, to the new patch and meta, to the tactics. makes you gasp, and especially the Battle Pass. The Battle Pass is something Valve usually rolls out right before every major tournament, and it shouldn’t pose a problem. But with the new Minor and Major formats, it seems that the Battle Pass is only available at The International time each year. But Valve found a solution by launching ‘Dota Plus’, which will replace the Major Battle Pass.

Dota Plus has a lot of features in it, and there will definitely be more to come in the near future. Like everything else, Dota Plus received mixed reviews. Some are very positive about it, but most consider it a pay-to-win feature. However, from what we’ve seen, Dota Plus is actually more of a Battle Pass. It is a tool to help you become a better Dota 2 player! Let’s find out together

Dota Plus Assistant

One of the main reasons determining the outcome of the match lies in the player’s decision to build. There are times when you’re playing a hero and you suddenly don’t know what to upgrade. A hero doesn’t always build the exact same items every game. Take this for example: If you’re playing Dazzle and the opponent has a lot of physical damage, Solar Crest will be a good bet. If the vast majority of enemy damage is magic, Pipe of Insight or Glimmer Cape is better. Dota Plus assists players in making these decisions.

Take a look at the recommended build list, List #2 is the list you should look at when facing a team with a lot of hand damage while #3 is the list to deal with a team with a lot of magic damage. Of course, you don’t have to follow this guide. What is your brain used for? (Make your own decisions, of course!). But it really helps you to know what options you have when your mind is in turmoil.

Stats and Talent for that Hero at a certain rank

The vast majority of us often imagine ourselves to be Divine, but in reality we are not. And there’s a reason why people play better than you. Dota Plus gives you the opportunity to learn their thought process (the better ones)! The ‘TRENDS’ tab of a hero allows you to see the stats of heroes of any rank. These numbers show that hero’s win rate at that rank, the average stats per game and, more importantly, the frequency and win rate of a talent. Changing the rank shows you the difference in the way players think about choosing a talent and the win rate of choosing that talent, to let you understand which is better! Understanding this stat will help you change the way you think if you keep losing when using that hero. The only thing that Dota Plus doesn’t mention is how long the stat lasts: maybe a week, or just within that patch.

Which skill should I build?

How important is skill building (choosing the right skill at each level)? Enough to change the meta! Previously, Phoenix only played offlane and Sun Ray was never maxed first. Until Tal ‘Fly’ Aizak realized its potential. People started mimicking in pro matches as Phoenix’s support. That’s the difference between skill building and Dota Plus Assistant that can help you make tough decisions when you haven’t thought of them yet!

Who is your friend, who is your enemy?

The ‘STATS’ tab bar allows players to see how they are playing when playing with another hero and against that hero. This is probably not the most useful stat, but it does come in handy when banning heroes.

Net Worth

Dota Plus allows you to keep track of your current net worth in a match and it is considered the best tool while playing core.

By looking at these numbers, it will tell you whether you are farming well or lagging. For the vast majority of carry, a net worth of around 12.5k at 25 minutes indicates your GPM (gold per minute) is 500. This is the least you should achieve (and higher if you play Alchemist yourself!). It’s not a standard number of net worth because sometimes the game doesn’t go as expected, but it is a measure to tell you if you are farming well or not. In addition, Dota Plus also has a ‘Goal’ section for you to compare, but with the numbers on it currently, it’s not really helpful in comparison.

For those who resent Dota Plus because they think it makes Dota 2 pay-to-win, they have their own reasons. Keeping track of net worth like that will definitely make them more profitable than non-payers using Dota Plus. However, it does not mean you are the winner of the match.

Damage – Damage

This is probably the best post-match analysis tool – DAMAGE. The ‘DAMAGE’ tab at the end of the game tells you how you deal damage with a skill or spell to your opponent. And this stat sheet has almost everything from hand damage to damage from temporary skills. It also shows which hero gets hit the most with which skill. As the picture below shows, Invoker is the second most noticed object by Doom, but Doom cannot easily cast Infernal Blade on Invoker. And the coolest thing, it can compare all heroes in the match! So the next time you lose a Battle Cup because the team doom that used the ultimate on Dragon Knight is in Dragon Form, this stat sheet will show it!

Looking at them, it’s hard to think Dota 2 has become pay-to-win. Valve is just trying to make games better and if we understand that Dota2 is free then the community shouldn’t be too upset when developers try to generate more revenue by adding value to the game.

Admittedely I dont know every feature from Dota Plus yet, but so many redditors whining over it being “pay to win” amazes me. If it can contribute to improving players game knowledge over time, why not? I bet its the same people complaining over “noob teammates” holding you back.

In addition to the above parameters, Dota Plus also has in-game challenges and rewards that can be obtained. Moreover, Dota Plus users can also participate in the weekly Battle Cup for free. Overall, Dota Plus seems like an interesting plus point for the game. As Rasmus ‘Chessie’ Blomdin says, everyone should stop yelling and start using it to improve themselves!
