This is the complete mid-game guide for Xuisoko’s Immortal rank on Reddit. In this post, we’ll go over what an Immortal midlaner must know.
You can watch xuisoko’s video tutorial below. It lasts 20 minutes and includes gameplay tips from 7 pro players:
-
Arteezy (mechanical ability)
-
Topson (ability to apply pressure)
-
Limmp (lane ability)
-
Nothingtosay (adaptability)
-
CCNC (handsome, all-round good mid player)
-
Sumail (added for fun)
-
Superam (pubstar, pubstomps)
1. Know who the enemy hero is to adjust
Eg:
If you’re Monkey King and you encounter heroes that can’t hit hands like Windrunner, you need to maximize Primal Spring, instead of Q or E. In addition, you also have to stack camp to farm, combine lane push until you get it. levels.
If playing a melee hero and encountering Viper or Huskar, there is one way you can make the lane even 50-50: Block creeps continuously. If creeps encounter each other on your turret, you will be level 2, then the creep will move to the enemy turret. Now, instead of competing to farm with the enemy, go block the next creep wave. Thanks to that, creeps will encounter each other at the turret. With this method, you can play Alchemist farm on par with Viper. Watch the video above to learn more.
2. Block RTZ and where do you want lane
Do you hold the mid hero stronger or weaker than the enemy mid?
If you’re weaker, apply the creep block method in section 1. If you’re stronger, you want the creeps to encounter each other right outside your turret. The article has instructions on how to block RTZ on the radiant side in the video (click the video below), as well as how to block the dire side.
3. Deward mid vision and ward
When playing on the Radiant side, you can go left to the enemy turret, cut two trees, hold ALT to stand outside at the edge of the turret’s attack range, if attacked by turrets there will be wards. You can apply the same on the other side.
When playing with Dire, you can go to the right of the enemy turret, press ALT and enter the turret’s attack range to deward. No matter which side you play on, it’s better to ward after 0:30, so you don’t get dewarded. Watch the video to understand better.
4. Time to push lane and save resources
You should know when the power rune appears (6th, 8th, 10th minute,…) to push lane 30 seconds before. This way you force your opponent to take hits from creeps to compete with runes.
If building a bottle, make sure to build the right item to get the bottle before the 2nd minute.
1:30, start hitting creeps and pushing lanes
2:30, do the same thing, push the enemy to just below his turret, steal the enemy bounty rune and refill the bottle again.
3:30, push again, eat water runes, small stack camp, eat bounty runes with you.
When creeps meet at 5:20 the wave will now have a catapult. Push wave, eat runes for 6 minutes if lucky.
If you’re the one being pushed, then turn on the glyph and harass the enemy, they’re probably very close to level 6. Slow down and go eat the runes.
If that fails, stack a small camp by 7 minutes. If you run out of resources, walk home and TP mid at 8 minutes to get runes (only do if your teammates can’t refill the bottle for you).
The 8th minute runes are extremely important here. Even if it takes a bit of XP just to refill mana and HP, we should still go get runes.
5. Creep Aggro Advanced
Creep aggro is guided in the clip because it is very difficult to explain in the lesson. What you see in the video is:
- How to dive turrets without being attacked
- Ranged creep vision
- Trick Aggro
- Last hit with aggro (pulls creeps towards you, so opponent can’t deny)
- Avoid aggro (hit 3 times before enemy creeps attack)
- Block creep movement in lane by aggro sideways
- Take the attack for the creeps so that the turret doesn’t kill the creeps
6. Draft
Most people draft to counter the opponent, and the opponent will also counter. So choose a hero that can work well with the team!
Team has pos 1 and pos 3 greedy?
Then don’t pick Medusa/ Alchemist/ Meepo/ Tinker/ Morphling/ Arc Warden in mid. Pick a hero that creates space for the other members.
Team has pos 1 not greedy?
Monkey King, Bounty Hunter, Leshrac or other carry tempo won’t win the game. You can pick mid heroes 1v9 like: Medusa, Alchemist, Meepo, Tinker, Morphling, Arc Warden, etc…
7. Play in accordance with the team
In the video, I have a two-point comparison between two Storm Spirit games. NothingToSay shows us two completely different approaches. Case one, when Storm had to fight to create space for the carry. Case two, when Storm farmed at the same time as carry.
Before the game, ask yourself the following:
- Will my carry be countered? Can the team PL carry the team against Leshrac, Earth Shaker and 3 other counter heroes?
- If the answer is yes, PL is countered and can’t 1v5, then you need to farm a lot, instead of risking 24/7 to create space for carry.
- If the carry is an Anti-Mage that counters those heroes, then you can go the other way, creating space for the team carry.
When mid has to carry the team:
- Prioritize items that restore mana instead of damage. You will farm faster, especially if you are an Intelligence hero
- Don’t gank unless you see a clear opportunity. Only gank with runes.
- Only react with TP or runes if the opponent dives too deep.
- Once you have the necessary items, then go around.
When mid needs to create space for the team:
- Don’t play neutral unless you’re close to getting an item or stealing your opponent’s stack
- Don’t build expensive items unless you’re ahead. Topson prioritizes Mage Slayer over Orchid when holding a Void Spirit and needs to fight early (you can see an example in the video)
- Learn the enemy carry’s farming habits to punish him.
8. Farming habits of the opponent’s carry that mid needs to know
When the enemy offlaner eats your safelane turret, the enemy carry will want to rotate to that lane to farm safely. The farming routine of the enemy carry looks like this:
Figure 1: Radiant carry’s optimal farming habits
Figure 2: Dire carry’s optimal farming habits
This is when the opponent is winning the lane. If the opponent loses his lane and the opponent’s carry is forced to leave, the enemy carry’s farming habits will change. It looks like this:
Figure 1: Farming habits to recover from carry Radiant
Figure 2:Farming habits to recover from carry Dire
If mid is ganking, the carry will usually take the mid farm position if the opponent is leading. This is a good chance to kill carry.
I have written everything that can be explained in the article, and the things that cannot be explained, you can see the details in the video.
What else is in the video?
- How to crush the enemy when you absolutely have the advantage, like Monkey King vs Melee, Viper vs Melee, etc…
- How to come back like Topson
- When Boots of Travel is a good item (how pro players use it to increase farm and when to do it)
- Advanced Aggro tricks
- Detailed explanation of two gameplay in mid
- How to apply all of the above in the game, one by one
